Hello Ambassadors!
All of us like spreading Fedora to people around us. A major part of this is accomplished by speaking about Fedora (spreading the word) and providing interested users with Fedora media so they can try it out.
The Fedora Distribution process[1] was initially set up as the central point of contact that was to handle and coordinate the different channels that are available to spread Fedora media around. Over the years, sadly, the coordination has been lost, and now we see the channels as independent bits.
As a small example: You'll find tickets in the free media list from folks who have Ambassadors in their vicinities themselves. If the channels were coordinated, we could ask these people to contact the Ambassadors nearby and get themselves media burnt : saving time, effort *and* enabling the free media to be used for other people who don't have Ambassadors around them.
Some of us have recently been working on tweaking the process. We've come up with a draft here[1] that we'd like you to please review and comment on. We also need more hands on board to help us bring this change about :)
Can you please go through the page and provide your valuable feedback?

I personally find the code stuff (if, then, else) quite funny but it might be a bit too technical for others.

Ah,
Suggestions? I'm not too good at drawing etc. on a system, so a flow chart is somewhat tough for me to make ;)
Other than the if-else portion, any other points you'd like to share?
Thanks, regards, Ankur

* As pointed by Marcus we should update the if-else explanation with a simple flow chart diagram.
* The Local (in person & by mail) contact records should be the responsibility of the concerning ambassador team to keep it update and verify before adding. So, people get efficient response and in case of any issue can move to other available person and report any non-responsive provider/volunteer to the concerning ambassador group.
* Any individual shouldn't add his name in the list for the sake of up-to-date provider list. He should ask any of the his regional ambassador if he/she is interested.

Yes, I'll look into this when I can squeeze out some time. The rest of the page is fairly verbose, so someone who doesn't understand the if-else part should still know what the draft intends.

Yes, we know that this is what *should* be done. Can you suggest a work flow that would ensure that these requirements are fulfilled please?

What list are we referring to here? The Local Contacts list, or the vendors' list? Can you also be more specific about what you mean by "regional ambassador". Do you mean "regional mentor"?
Thanks, regards, Ankur

Sorry, I couldn't catch you early.

I am referring to the single media provider list. I think a regional ambassador and mentor would look same in the media provider list as people would be concerned about who can give or help us get the media. So, for country Alpha there will be a list of individuals A, B, C, D ... who can provide or help to get media and it doesn't matter if that individual is a mentor, ambassador or just a usual user.
Maintenance / Update of media provider list should be done by active ambassador(s) from that country so, we can ask someone in case of any complaints against media providers.
*User's Prespective:* For users they should see a neat and "verified" list of persons listed under countries. They may chose anyone and volunteer can also update their availability chances/status next to their name and contact info. User should be told clearly how to escalate in case of no response from the volunteer.

Hi,
I sincerely apologise for the delay. The mail got filtered off to the wrong place. I'm currently working on updating the Distribution pages on the wiki. A call for participation in the mini fad must have just hit the list. The mini fad aims at updating and verifying pages. Currently, the target are the vendors' lists but hopefully we'll have more of these to update the other pages as well.

Thanks for taking time out to work on this.
