Talking about spins, the article mentions this
"a Fedora release for gamers, developers and those who are interested in working with electronics outside of just computing. If there is one thing that is becoming obvious to me, it is Fedora's attack on Ubuntu."
As the guy working on the games spin, I never thought of spins as an attack on anything (and I doubt anyone did) but facilitating a targeted experience based on Fedora. Anyway it is a interesting view and we sure seemed to have improved our public perception. Good for us.

Does Ubuntu even have targeted spins like that (maybe aside for Edubuntu)? I know that there are various desktop spins (GNOME, KDE, XFCE), but nothing targeted to various user segments like a Fedora spin that I'm aware of.

No, not officially which is one of the reasons why I find that quote pretty odd.
