Dear All,
According to the http://susmit.fedorapeople.org/report/famsco_final_report/#id2781437
http://susmit.fedorapeople.org/report/famsco_final_report/#id2781437There are around 700 Am. worldwide and around 183 events in 2010.
I think each ambassador should have a responsibility of having at-least one event for an year that ensure spreading fedora in the community.
And as in 2009 it is good to evaluate Am. (based on region) on yearly basis and ensure all the Am. work well.
Having a large list mean nothing we need people who work to achieve goals. I noticed some Am. dont event updated their user-page with their contacts, and some dnt have contact details.
So i think this need to ensure the quality of the Am. What you all think?
BTW wish all the elected Am. good luck on their future work :).

I think you should focus on your own behavior and contributions rather than the behavior and contributions of everyone else on the planet. We do not need another witch hunt.

+1 to John. Can we just hall monitor this thread now, before it gets out of hand?

Agreed, just because not all of us have events on going, does not mean we are not spreading the good word.

Hi all,
It is nice to see that thread is growing.
Do not misunderstand what I told. I didnt mean anytihgn like hunting inactive Am. What I was suggesting is WE NEED TO HAVE THE INTERNAL CONNECTION.
Whatever happening should be reported and updated, then only we can plan for better.
If it is not possible to find the Am. contact details how we think about his contribution here. AND I was talking about Events as an example ALL can follow their way to spread the word. BUT what I am sugessing is to UPDATE with us what you doing.
If anyone is organizing an event why dont they put it on the Events? That is the thing we need to encourage. Do publish what you doing then it is possivle to evaluate the progress of the project in marketing side. COZ that increase the quality and efficiency.

I do focus and always try to improve my contribution. (thanks for the advice :) ) BUT as a part of this project I have the freedom to express what I believe (or ideas).

I would put this in constructive way. I suggest to have a place to show the activities ambassador has participated and when was he/she last participated. This is not introduced for pressure as we don't "punish" each others by something done to their accounts/identity. We are Fedora who helps, not a cold enterprise who sacks. :)
We can avoid embarrassing less active ambassadors by just showing "Ambassador activities in last 12 months" field, instead of a empty field with "No activities has ever been done". Just a random idea.
This allow experienced ambassadors have ideas that who may need assistance during their contributions. Such information is also let new comers find recently active FAms to make contact timely. As Buddhika said, UPDATE is important. I think telling others what have you done is as important as organizing event itself for ambassadors.

Ambassadors currently discuss their activities on the wiki (the events page and others), the mailing lists, their personal blogs, and at regional ambassador meetings. This information is presumably collected to some extent by FAmSCo and incorporated into its monthly/annual reports.
Everyone has always been encouraged to talk about what they do as ambassadors. Maybe I'm being dense but I just don't get what is wrong with the way we are currently doing this and why we need somewhere else to also talk about what we do.

The list is just showing the active ambassadors but not the ambassadors who may potentially need assistance. :)

And now we are going down the unconstructive path chasing the "bad" ambassadors. These discussions always end up going this direction and that is why I tried to kill this thread at the start. We have been down this road more than once, it is a dead end.

most of what you raised needs to be taking care of on a more regional level or updaing the wiki pages, setting up a local network. if resources are needed, this is what FAmSCo can help with... personally I think it is related to finding the correct communication channel to stay up to date with events that matter to you.
If it is not possible to find the Am. contact details how we think about his contribution here.
the info you need is mostly offered by FAS. it is not our (FAmSCo) duty to keep this update or chase it. it is up to the individual ambassador
Most of my opinion has already been raised by others.
Dear Buddhika,
I slightly disagree with you since holding an even does not really monitor the activity of an ambassador. Take me for example, I'm spreading Fedora silently through out my area by providing media and encouraging university students and basic end users to switching to fedora as an alternative OS. Basically, I don't think there is a proper Ambassador Activity Monitoring System. and i don't think that there is going to be in the time being, since this project is build up on freedom, freedom of time and resources and I think each ambassador is sharing as much as he/she could through out each cycle.
Once this topic is brought up and my suggestion was is to cancel and/or freeze the ambassador if he/she didn't check in to the fedora project and update there status from time to time (This is for the board to decide), or yet maybe contact this ambassador and see whats going on with them.....
Best regards to all.

In my case giving free enterprise technical support and promoting Fedora in the pro field.
