working on Glitter Gallery for the last two summers, and it's provided a lot of improvements and momentum. Mo mentored a student working on Hyperkitty as part of OPW last year, and I think it was very successful.
The important thing is that before any project is added to that page,
there should be willing, commited mentors associated with the project. Mentoring does take a decent amount of time, and is a months' long commitment - starting now, and going through the end of the summer. Not everyone has the time for that. :)
Lack of mentors was a problem we face last year too. I suggest, draft the projects without naming mentors. If any contributor in the community have confidence and time to guid the students, lets give them an opportunity to volunteer as mentors.
