My name is Charles Sutton. By day I am a mild mannered intellectual property attorney. I have been making art for about 12 years, and out of that I have been learning digital media for about three. I have mostly been interested in fine art, although I do all kinds of stuff ranging from minimalist abstractions to representational landscape and figurative drawings. I have a couple of print illustrative publication credits and a large number of juried shows I have been in. I am a former President of one non-profit art gallery and a former treasurer of another. I am a current co-chair of the annual California State Bar Association Bench and Bar Art Exhibition.
I have a little bit of experience at making small icons and quite a bit of experience making what one might call webcomic type material to go along with the minimalist abstraction experience that might come in handy in the area of wall papers or screensavers.
I mostly work in the GIMP or traditional media, though I have Inkscape and Blender available to me as well as some proprietary stuff like TurboCAD, Photoshop Elements 3 and Painter Essentials.
I think that's about it in a nutshell. I guess I can help some if esoteric legal issues come up like you recently seem to have discussed in the area of logos in wallpapers.

Have you any works available online?

If you are interested in icons, there is an ongoing effort in need of more help https://fedorahosted.org/echo-icon-theme/ (the icons are made with Inkscape).
I am personally curious about your webcomic, for a while I published one too, it was centered around Fedora: http://nicubunu.blogspot.com/search/label/webcomic

That's cool.

While some legal help is useful, we ultimately follow the advice of the Fedora-legal and Red Hat lawyers, maybe this is an interesting place for you: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-legal-list
Well, here is the good, the bad, and the ugly for the last three years. (sort of an art blog) I am Arttorney on Conceptart.org. http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=72901 I did not get into making the comic type stuff until somewhere in the last 9 pages or so. There is some nudity in here, since my figures are not very strong and so I need to work at my life drawing when I get a chance.

Nice! I think some of the stuff you have in there is really great, I liked things like some of your portraits and some textures (Victorian letterhead, cauldron...).

Thank you. I had expected that work where I take care to execute with good draftsmanship would be more valuable to this project than some of the experimental stuff or general "messing around" drawings. From what I've seen in the wiki about icons, standardization and cleanliness of presentation are the threshold norm. I think I will need to do some Inkscape tutorials to make sure I know what I am doing in vector. I'll go and look at your linked works when I get a chance. The work-a-day world is kind of intrusive at the moment. Cheers.

Hi Charles,
Welcome to Fedora Project. Inkscape is quite easy to get into, so read a few tutorials and just work on something you like :) You are very welcome to join the Echo Perspective team, we try to make a new icon theme which is modern, vibrant and fresh :)

A good and comprehensive source of Inkscape tutorials is http://inkscapetutorials.wordpress.com/
While cleanliness is always a good thing, we do a lot more things beside icons, there you may feel more freedom to experiment, like desktop wallpapers, website banners, T-shirts and many others.
