Helly everyone, My name is Matthias and I currently live in Washington, DC. My professional background is within the transportation/rail industry, but originally started within IT which is also how I got to use Linux in the first place. I have first started using Linux in 2005 or so with SUSE. Since then I have switched back and forth between multiple distributions and also used MacOS and Windows for some time on my personal computers. While using Linux, I was mainly using Ubuntu-based systems, but in May 2021 I switched to Fedora after F34 was released and have been using Fedora since then. I'm frequently using the command line but often just for simple things as it's just faster than some graphical tools. After I've been benefiting from open source software, I now want to contribute as well. I have a bit of a programming background (Java, Python and VBA), but my interests within contributing to Fedora are more within writing, translation (my native language is German) and/or internationalization - I'm not completely sure yet about which field would suit me best. The time I am able to commit will vary over time. I am happy to aim for at least 4 hours every week, but if time allows it can also be more than that. I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know everyone here and becoming part of the team. Matthias

Hey there! I'm excited to get to know the Fedora developer community a bit better and would like to quickly say that I don't really have much experience with this kind of communication structure (mailing lists etc), but am going to do my best to integrate with it properly. If I'm sending messages to the wrong place or spamming something, please just let me know. To be safe, I'm going to be sending this message to my ticket (#253 on Fedora Welcome) and to the fedora join mailing list. Anyway, I'm Seth. I'm 16 and I'm doing my GCSEs in the UK currently. I have always had an interest for computing, and first got into Linux (as my desktop daily driver) a year or two ago. I've only been using Fedora on my primary desktop for a few months, but have been absolutely blown away by it and feel that I am in the right position to dedicate a bit of my time to helping a FOSS project. Because the Fedora community has been so welcoming to me, I thought this would be a great place for me to start. Besides from my interest in computing, I enjoy nature, going on walks and camping with friends. And if you can't find me, I'm probably off on my Steam Deck somewhere. I have made a few basic contributions to FOSS projects before, but nothing that major. I have performed some database migrations on Veloren (the open-source Rust voxel game) as well as various other miscellaneous projects, including a few things I've worked on myself. Admittedly, most of the "cooler" stuff I have done isn't open-source (I've made a few games and websites etc). I would like to change that with some contributions to Fedora. In the FOSS community, I see myself as trying to find a mentor/sponsor and then trying to integrate into the project a bit, finding a niche where I feel like I can make a contribution to Fedora, whilst also challenging myself. I'd love to say where I plan to take this in future, but I'm just not sure yet. I'm usually fairly articulate and would be more than happy to assist Fedora in areas other than programming, whether that is article writing or just technical support, I'd be excited to get involved. Fedora Workstation is my main desktop OS, I do not dual boot. In terms of non-software development I feel like I could contribute a bit in the video/podcasting and marketing areas, although probably not any of the other options listed. For my experience I'm just going to do a bullet point style list for the sake of readability. # Programming Languages Python (and GDScript) - Most experienced, I've made a few bits and bobs with it. C++ - Enough experience to do the basics, still just a beginner. Rust - Basically no experience, but a definite interest in learning more about it. HTML - Yes, I can make a 2005 grade website. Other languages - I've dabbled with other languages before, such as C#, but don't feel they're noteworthy. I'm open to trying and learning new languages if it would be more productive. # Development Tools Command Line: I am comfortable with the Linux command line and GNU tools. Version Control: Comfortable with git Packaging: No experience but interested Frameworks: I've used more than I can count, definitely comfortable with the concept but I'm not going to attempt to list them here unless there are specific ones you're interested in. Infrastructure/Sysadmin: I've used Linode and DigitalOcean before as well as hyperscalers (briefly) and have decent experience with managing infrastructure and system administration. I do quite a bit of work on my home network, which runs Linux. # Communication Platforms I have barely used mailing lists before, so please excuse any errors I make. For my preferred communications platform, I tend to use Discord, but can use whatever really. I've moderated and administrated lots of forums and online communities in my time, I have a lot of experience in the area and would be up for giving the Fedora project a hand if that would be useful. For my time commitment, I'd go with 2-6 hours per week. I can't guarantee this, but think it's a safe bet to say I'll be able to spend somewhere in this time range working on Fedora each week. Stuff such as moderating and replying to emails can probably be counted separately though as I find myself doing that in my spare time without much in the way of energy drain. I hope that's enough info for you and that this message gets to everyone properly. Hello! I'm Dhanush Kovi, a Fedora enthusiast since 2 years. I'm currently looking into contributing to Fedora Project via updating documentation, QA (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/Join), working with upstream projects to fix bugs or maybe even talk in Fedora Podcast (if possible). I like tinkering with various things and nature. I've beginner experience with Java & Python. I'm currently studying in University in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Having less experience with machine learning, I'm willing to learn and tinker to contribute to ML-SIG. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SIGs/ML I've learnt about Fedora project while looking for a linux distribution that satisfies my needs. As an avid lover of Fedora and a passionate linu, I want to make more users needs satisfying by contributing to Fedora Project. I made lot of users in my university to use Fedora and they're more happy than before. It's my first time contributing to FOSS. I imagine myself as a long-term successful contributor to the FOSS community. I use Fedora Workstation as my main system with a few VMs for testing - Fedora Silverblue and Fedora Rawhide. I consider myself to be proficient enough to communicate my ideas with others in English. Despite I had never done Podcasts, I'd love to inspire community participation in Fedora Podcast (if it is possible to participate in Fedora Podcast). I consider myself to have intermediate command line experience, basic experience with git and advanced beginner proficiency in Java and Python. Its my first time using mailing lists. You can contact me on Matrix. I've moderated as a contributor to less known forums. Initially, I'm willing to spend 2-4 hours per week. I'll gradually increase a bit after increasing my experience with the project.

Hey there Ahmed, I've just logged into Bodhi using my existing FAS account "pointy", along with subscribing to test and test-announce, I've also skimmed the docs but I'll read them properly tomorrow. I'm also following https://pagure.io/fedora-join/Welcome-to-Fedora/issue/250 to help me settle in. As I mentioned, I'm pretty new to using mailing lists, so more often than not I'm accessible on Discord or IRC as I mentioned (I'm already lurking in #fedora, qa, join, i18n, g11n, social, uk and respins, alongside the official Discord server :P). Hey there! My name's Elliott and I'm from the UK (Europe/London). I'm a 20yo tinkerer and I have experience reporting problems and suggesting new features on various projects (e.g. Chromium, Discord), even if not to a high degree. I've also been a part of focus tests and understand how to interact with others in QA situations. This isn't my first time contributing to FOSS, with various contributions on other repositories, however I'd like to expand my horizons. I'm also a casual gamer, streamer/youtube watcher and meme connoisseur. I used to be a part of my college's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team for a couple of years, promoting and campaigning equality for all to my fellow students, however this was cut short by the start of Covid lockdowns in 2020, after which I had already finished my education. I also used to be an ambassador for the IT department there around the same time, encouraging newcomers. My original reason for joining was to suggest a font for packaging/default inclusion in Fedora, specifically https://github.com/unicode-org/last-resort-font, and from initial reactions from a short discussion in #fedora-i18n, it seems like it might be a good idea. Overall, I'd be happy to report bugs when I find them and suggest new functionality/features if something is bothering me, however my availability is highly variable due to some personal factors, although when I am around I usually have many hours daily to spare. I recently switched to Fedora Cinnamon as my primary OS in February, after using Windows XP, Vista, 7, 10 and 11 devices for at least 11 years (if not more), with some Apple mixed in for good(?) measure, and as such I'm still training myself out of old habits. I've had various exposures to the Linux ecosystem over the years, with the first being messing around with Damn Small Linux, then Ubuntu, however these were just for fun and were never used for long periods. My friend (who has been using Void for a long time) eventually convinced me to switch from full time Windows earlier this year, and I did my own research and thought Fedora would be the best fit for me, as opposed to other distributions. In terms of software, I am comfortable living on the edge, with examples being my previous usage of Windows 10/11 Insider (fast ring/dev channel) and current usage of Discord Canary, however my installed Fedora packages are still on stable updates after my recent transition. In the past I've tinkered with design with Photoshop etc, however I haven't quite got into the swing of things with GIMP etc. I haven't used mailing lists before, however I understand the forum-like approach. My preferred RTC platform is Discord, where you can find me at pointy#0001, however I am also available on Libera as pointy (using a friend's Quassel core). I have also helped moderate forums before in various gaming communities, and I have extensive knowledge of Discord moderation. Hope to talk to you soon! ~Elliott Tallis aka pointy
