Hi,
I installed Oracle JDK on my Fedora 23 KDE box. I setup alternatives as follow [1].
alternatives --install /usr/bin/javaws javaws /usr/java/default/jre/bin/javaws 200000
This doesn't always work and result in the error in the subject like. It can be fixed by following [2].
rm /var/lib/alternatives/javaws alternatives --install /usr/bin/javaws javaws /usr/java/default/jre/bin/javaws 200000
I am curious why does it happen. Why does the link fail?

icedtea-web provides /usr/bin/javaws.itweb which become /etc/alternatives/javaws /usr/bin/javaws

I use Oracle JDK because it is a requirement for Android Studio.

Oh its not :)
It only Google engineers, after copypasted and crippled Openjdk somehow tries to deny openjdk continue to exists.
I'm developing for android a lot, and with, and only with openjdk as it goes form fedora RPMs.
