Hi, Is there any projects we can propose for this year Google Summer of Code programme. I have noticed there are no any single project idea proposed in Java for Fedora (but there are few from last year)
It may be great chance to get new contributors for Java SIG.
Thanks, /Lali

Packaging itself is not a good candidate for GSoC -- it usually requires cooperation with other package mainatiners and working with upstreams. Besides that someone has to maintain the packages after GSoC ends.
I have just added two Java-related proposals, you can see them at [1]. Both are about developing new Eclipse plugins for helping with Fedora-related tasks. They should meet all criteria for GSoC.

+1, we should select students who can continue their contribution to The
Fedora.

We applied as IcedTea but we didn't get selected this year, some projects may be done with Fedora in mind though, so feel free to pick anything from this list:

I may be able to help mentoring some (as in one :) of them.
I think at least two of them may be great for Fedora:
* Port OpenJDK to Wayland * System Abstraction for the JDK
Let me know.
Cheers, Mario

+1, Please add them to Fedora idea page[1]
And also I'm personally like 'New Swing Look And Feel based on JavaFX' project. :)
Cheers,
Mario

Yeah,
Except that JavaFX is not in Fedora, and depends on Gradle and OpenJDK8 :)
This is an hard beast unfortunately, the task is not so difficult though.

Then forget about it now, and lets forward with what we have :)
