Hello everyone,
Along with sessivany we were thinking of having an EMEA Ambassadors meetup in DevConf[1] (5-7 February 2016), and ask for a few hours in the schedule and a room in the last day, after the conference ends.
We didn't organize an EMEA FAD this year, and I think this small meetup would be really valuable, so that we can make our event plan, decide which events we should participate in, and propose the budget for the next year.
DevConf is also a very good and easy choice to have a meetup there, as it is a conference co-organized from Fedora, and there will already be there many active contributors from the project, plenty Ambassadors from the Czech Republic, the FPL, and many other Ambassadors from nearby countries. Sessivany told me that we could get a room with good connectivity so that we could also live stream for contributors that won't be able to come. And of course, DevConf is a much more affordable solution, as it's much cheaper than organizing something independent at this moment.
Finally, we could use some funds of the EMEA budget that we have left from this FY, to get some important and active contributors there, and accommodate them.
Thoughts?
I hope everyone has a great holiday season, Zacharias
I´m sorry. I can´t make it happen, because of beeing the weekend before @FOSDEM and the dutys at $DAYJOB that short time for two events is (for mee) too much BG Gerold

Hello everyone,
I totally agree with Zacharias and Sessivany. I also think that this meetup is a must in order to make our event plan, coordinate among us and propose the budget for the next year. I think it is a great idea of having an EMEA ambassadors meetup during or after the DevConf so in this way we can reduce the costs of organizing it independetly. In my opinion this form of organizing this meetup has all the advantages that Zacharias has listed in his email.
If i can help you in anyway please let me know. :)
Happy holidays everyone! :D Jona

Hello,
I do agree that, since the EMEA FAD did not take place, it will be nice to have some sort of a meetup to create a plan for the next year.
We could have had an opportunity during FOSDEM as well (i.e. stay an extra day in Brussels and meet somewhere), but unfortunately many (if not all) of us have finalized our travel arrangements already.
So, who is already planning to attend DevConf?
If we subsidize some active contributors to participate, then it wouldn't make much sense (budget-wise) to hold a meeting just for a few hours. It's also not safe to assume that we can have a proper meeting right after the conference ends, for a number of reasons.
It would be really nice If we could get a room at Red Hat Brno, for one or two days before or after DevConf. We can have a solid FAD there, and the same ambassadors we subsidize for the FAD will also represent Fedora at DevConf. Two birds, one stone.

I agree as well, although I'm not able to attend cause I'm not planning to attend DevConf (at least not in this moment). In the two FAD I attended it was useful having a couple of full days. Since changes we are facing and we'll face (budget.next, FOSCo and so on) are so important, I think we need at least a couple of days and also the presence of each EMEA country (or the most/main of them) in order to get explanations widespread.
Thanks.

Hello,
I think that we are late if we want to organize something at FOSDEM. Of course it is much preferred to have one or two days rather than a few hours in our disposal, but I thought of DevConf as it is a relatively cheap and convenient option.
I like the Red Hat Brno idea, and it is a good option to organize something there (as obviously we won't have to pay for the venue). We could organize a FAD there on different dates from DevConf, since most people wouldn't be able to participate then. We could still use some of our remaining funds, and don't ask a budget from the council. But is it easy enough to ask for a room in Red Hat Brno? Because if I remember correctly something similar there hasn't been organized before.
Thoughts?

All active Czech ambassadors should be there: me, Jaroslav Reznik, Miro Hroncok, Frantisek Zatloukal. Patrick Uiterwijk from NE has an accepted talk there. In the last years, there were also ambassadors from Russia (Aleksandra), French ambassadors who work for Red Hat (Pingou,...), ambassadors from Hungary, ambassadors from Germany who work for Red Hat (Matthias Runge). I think there will be more than 10 ambassadors from EMEA no matter if we organize the meeting or not.

I don't see any feedback from other ambassadors as well, so we could go ahead and organize a mini-FAD during DevConf. Seems like the best option we have, given the circumstances.

Hello everyone,
If you are interested in coming, please sign up at the wiki page [1]. DevConf is from 5-7 February, and the meetup will take place in Sunday at 3 PM, right after the conference ends. There is a budget for this meetup, and the travel expenses of some active contributors can be covered. It would be ideal to have at least one Ambassador from each country, so that we can have a wider and better discussion.
Can't come in person? Don't worry! You can participate online via live steaming and IRC. If so, sign up as a virtual attendee.

Hey, I just noticed the time here. The last Fedora session actually _starts_ at 3:40pm, and it'll be a joint panel discussion I'd hate to have ambassadors miss.

Yes, you are right. When I last checked the schedule I remember that at 3pm the conference was over. So I suppose we will delay the meetup until 17:15.
