Anyone willing to take a crack at the labels and sleeves? IIRC the labels are very easy to modify, because there's not much to do. They're a flat color because that cuts down on printing costs. Some text needs changing, I think, like the release number and copyright year.
The sleeves are a little more challenging, but not too hard. The text on the back of the sleeve should probably stay as is, with minor changes for release number and copyright year.

Hi team!
I tried to create design for CD/DVD sleeve artwork for example [1]. What do you think about this work. It should continue to do work on the basis of this design.

Would you be up for doing a really colorful version of the F13 disc labels for Karlie Robinson? Her company prints the discs out in full-color. You can use gradients and other other effects you'd like. Let me know.

As always, amazing work! This work puts us in really great shape for F13. I do have some points of feedback for you:
- Disc Labels:
http://inkscaper.fedorapeople.org/Fedora13/media-artwork/disk-labels/png/Fed...
1 - Can you make a version with the 13 plain? The reason I ask is because these labels should work for screen-printed discs, and the gradients in the fire aren't going to come out so well with that printing process (they would work fine on a home inkjet.)
2 - It looks like the '1' in '13' is regular and the '3' in '13' is bold - the two numbers look like they have different weights. Is this something you can adjust?
- Disc Sleeves:
http://inkscaper.fedorapeople.org/Fedora13/media-artwork/disk-sleeves/png/Fe...
3 - I really love the design! The only thing is, maybe it would be nice to use the rocket Fab used in his banner mockup? Is that possible do you think? Then we'll have some consistency between the two. (http://pfrields.fedorapeople.org/images/f13-banner/)
- F13 Small Banner:
http://inkscaper.fedorapeople.org/Fedora13/release-banner/fedora13-release-b...
I *love* it. I really think the launching 13 is a clever little design. I don't think I'd change a thing about this one, you really nailed it!
Thanks Alexander, you rock!

Yes, using gradient is not good for printing process. I changed gradient flame to simple shape (two plain colors). I wanted create minimal change for our label design (we don't change it's in 11 and 12 versions). If flame looks don't good it's easy change in Scribus (off for exporting and printing).
2 - It looks like the '1' in '13' is regular and the '3' in '13' is bold

I corrected it (it's mistake previous version).

When I started this design I tried use Fabian's rocket, but I had a problem. His raster pictures are small (screen) resolution. I tried to change it but it did not look very good. Maybe change shape my simple rocket to shape similar Fabian's rocket (I don' know).

Mizmo,
I am not sure if any FOSS software does support lightscribe. But is it possible to make the images available somewhere for people who want to use them with lightscribe ?
thx

If there is anybody here with the time and inclination to do so, they most certainly can. Right now we don't even have the bare essentials done for the release.
I think probably you could just take Alexander's designs and greyscale them in gimp and they'd be usable in Lightscribe.

Once the final version is, will do. Sometimes I burn this or that for a friend, and since it's hard to get a printed Fedora DVD on this side of the atlantic, Lightscribe is a good option to have a fancy DVD.
Once the final is out, I'll grab them to make some tests and I'll forward them to this list.

Thanks man, that would be awesome. I don't actually have access to a lightscribe drive, so I've never been able to test them out. I'm sure a lot of people will really appreciate the effort.
If you need any help with the Gimp greyscale conversion let me know.

No problem. I do have a lightscribe burner in one of my laptops, but to be honest I only found it recently what it was ;)
I'll do some experimenting with Gimp, for that kind of operation and contrast/brightness balancing should be fine. I'll share them on my fedorapeople space and having them available on the wiki for download would also be nice for people who can use it.

I know that it is really late in the cycle to be throwing changes into the process, and I *really* should have remembered to do this earlier, but I'd like to make a suggestion for the sleeves. Around January, I attended Camp KDE in California. I came home, naturally, with a lot of different live media. I think that one of the most striking ones for me, one that I wrote about[1], was the KUbuntu 9.10 live cd, whose sleeve was, rather than our current design of a simple sleeve, folded open and had information on the front and back of it, about KUbuntu, the community and GNU/Linux in general.
I have created a mockup[2][3] of a similar idea for Fedora 13. The wording within it should probably be done by fixed up by someone else on the Marketing staff; I wrote it offline on the bus. I know that this may throw a wrench in our plans, and has a few problems off the top of my head (we print Live images and Install media, whereas KUbuntu only has live images) (translation may be an issue) (does our current producer have the ability to even make these) (is it more expensive) so I would not be surprised to see this fall by the wayside for at least Fedora 13. It would be awesome to Make This Happen, though.
Best, Ryan

This sounds like a great idea. Do you have the time and inclination to make it happen?
I'm not opposed to a different sleeve structure at all. It *will* be more expensive, because it's more material. Therefore, Max may not have the budget set aside for it. That also doesn't mean we can't get it done. :-)
But I think the media production for NA is already underway according to the last log I saw from FAmSCo. You should get Max and Clint involved in this conversation.
There are some content problems on the sleeve design, but that's a completely separate issue we can deal with that has nothing to do with the logistics. That presents another point, though, where you'd have to get a bunch of review (and maybe a helping hand) very quickly.
So I'd weigh all these things and then decide whether you want to take this on with the goal of getting it done for F13 media, or still pursue it now only less urgently with the goal of having it done well in advance for F14 media.

I'm thinking this is an F14 thing, given upcoming finals for me, and the fact that I took so long to start this in the first place; it's on my calendar this time though.

Nothing wrong with that. I think it's a fine idea -- if we can afford folding sleeves, then they do give us some space to get out a bit of messaging around the disc, rather than just "here's something free of cost."
I do like your work ryan, I would probably skip the effects around "Fedora" as it might be considered an offense to the trademark guidelines. For the rest, 5*
