Hey, here is another small icon request: As part of the 'Improved Volume Control' feature for F12 (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/VolumeControlContinued ), we would like to add a speaker setup dialog to gnome-volume-control to help people setting up surround sound. But this currently blocks on not having suitable icons for this.
Here is a page that describes in some detail what is needed: http://live.gnome.org/GnomeArt/ArtRequests/issue22
If someone would feel inspired to tackle this, that would be awesome.
Matthias

Manuel, do you have experience with designing icons? If not, it may be hard at first (for example I acknowledge I am not good at this), there are a loot of things to take care, from the metaphor to the style (strokes, palette, gradients, lighting, shadows) and technical details (pixel alignment, simplified versions for small size) and so.
I strongly recommend you to study the SVGs from /usr/share/icons/Mist/scalable/ to get a good understanding of this set look and feel.
Have a look at those guidelines to learn a bit: https://fedorahosted.org/echo-icon-theme/wiki/Guidelines - sure, they are for Echo, not for Mist, but will probably help with some insight.
Another wonderfur resource is jimmac's blog: http://jimmac.musichall.cz/log/?cat=4
...and don't get scared by what i said above, open Inkscape, give a try and show what you got :p

I would also recommend http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Theme_Guidelines And here is a good tutorial to get started: http://vector.tutsplus.com/tutorials/illustration/how-to-create-a-vector-lig... - Andreas

Having email problems, so apologies if this is a duplicate:
I can take this on if no one else has started. I'm part way through with the speaker and subwoofer icons (attached). The SpeakerIcon_Test file is just to show what the speakers would look like at different angles. Obviously, these are super flat and un-styled at the moment, but if the concept seems reasonable I can keep working and polish them off.
Hope this helps,
eve

As far as I know, nobody else is working on this.

While I am not the requester, I like what you did so far, good job Eve!
