Trac Instance

Our trac instance is up. Please submit tickets and just go to town on it (its easy to replace). Do whatever you guys want to because I'll be re-making this site when it goes live. https://hosted.fedoraproject.org/projects/fedora-infrastructure/ Requires your FAS identity to log in. Note we have F8 and F9 milestones. This whole system feels much simpler and much more natural for what we're doing then OTRS did. I don't have the source part setup yet but that can come. Give honest feedback because we've had bugzilla and OTRS already in the last year or so. I want to make sure we get this one right. -Mike

Logging into the packagedb from the commandline

Hey all, I've posted some sample code that illustrates how to login to the packagedb from the commandline. I had to make a few minor modifications to the packagedb server and to python-fedora to make it work so Bodhi, mirrormanager, or other apps wanting to use this might want to look at the packagedb code for login as well. DB1 upgrade

The db1 upgrade is going to happen soon. I'd like to do it next monday (one week from today). I'll be scheduling an outage for Monday night. I'd like for everyone who can be around, to be around at that time. Also keep a special eye out the next day for any oddities. The basic premise is this: 1) Turn off postgres and mysql on db1 2) Run a dump of both db's 3) import both db's to db2 4) test 5) point all of our applications at db2 6) Wait a week or two then rebuild db1 7) Schedule another outage, move the postgres db back to db1. We'll let it run of db2 for a week or two then rebuild db1. Once both boxes are at the same package level we'll migrate the postgres db back to db1. Both databases will have mysql and postgres installed but db1 will be running postgres and db2 will be running MySQL. Each will have a regular job to dump and copy their db to the other. This gives us dedicated resources as well as a quick recovery in the event of some catastrophic failure of one of them. Any questions? -Mike

bz sync fixed up

The problem with the bugzilla script syncing should now be fixed. Bugzilla was changed on Friday night to user all lowercase email addresses rather than mixed case. The direct db access used by our sync scripts was by-passing the normalization. I've fixed up the script so things should be better now. Axel, Matt -- if you notice otherwise, let me know. Jeremy

Nagios and notification

I'm moving our production nagios install onto its own machine with cacti (noc1) We've had a few false positives because lockbox is just too busy with other things. In the process of this move I was wondering how we should do nagios notifications. I see two options: 1) Create a nagios group for just generic all notifications 2) make admins add themselves about what to be notified about 3) Auto add people in a group to the notifications list and make them customize if necessary. Prior to the move to noc1. We used 3). Opinions? -Mike

Contributor and contributions stats

Hi We maintain some amount of user stats at http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Statistics but another important metric that is useful for monitoring project growth level is amount of contributors and contributions they have made. We could keep publish a page that has number of contributors involved with everything from packaging to managing infrastructure vs the contributions they make from number of packages to number of servers managed. Would anyone be interested in writing some scripts that publishes numbers and maybe pretty graphs Rahul
