ok i found a FIG and it's called sysadmin. i think this is the closest to my actual experience.
i want to join sysadmin. should i apply now or wait for a nod?

Yep, that's a good one to apply for as any other sysadmin-* groups require it. Let me know once you've applied and I'll make sure to sponsor you... beware though... you'll start getting nagios alerts.
