Ok, so here's 'the plan' we're working on if you guys are cool with it.
Strip f.r.c out to only have:
/Download/mirrors/
/
The / will be a static page identical to the one on the wiki (instead of redirecting the users to the page, we'll bring the page right too them) If need be we will start removing things like graphics, formatting, etc.
We'll stick the content on our two app servers, we'll enable caching on our 4 proxy servers. We can use rpm.livina.com as an app server and one of our xen boxes as an app server if need be (thanks Pix).
Once that's done, change f.r.c to point to the new IP address. Then cross our fingers. Redirecting traffic to fp.o over the weekend is out of the question. Seth is gone and that box is extremely important, its not just the wiki but also our primary DNS and some other services. What do you think?

We need /download/mirrors/ too because I'm a twit and typod the yumconf files for FC5.
Btw, I'm going to prepare a new fedora-release package for FC5 that changes the mirror URLs to mirrors.fedoraproject.org so we don't get hit with this again.
Like I said, if you can provide me content based on the outage page we have now, I can add it.

Well thats easy then.
http://fedoraproject.org/mirrors/ -> f.rh.c/download/mirrors/ -> f.rh.c/Download/mirrors/
we may have to come up with a special page that is a combination of the wiki mirrors page and the main page if we want.

Ok, I'm a simpleton. I don't follow this exchange here... Is Stacy asking for different content to put on our outage page?
Yes,
Give me content to place on the page. I cannot make the whole of the structure show up in TPA, but I can change the page that is there.
If someone other than Seth can and wants to take responsibility for the FP.org server in Duke, we can redirect it there via NS.
However, if we do anything to negatively impact their services, you must realize you will be held accountable for making that call.

right. We're not talking about a content change per se. We're talking about a DNS change to completely bypass redhat.com infrastructure, and taking responsibility for this subdomain for the time being. Mike outlined the plan to handle the load, which does not involve the fp.org host at Duke.
Chris was able to get the directories /download/mirrors and /Download/mirrors on the static pages. See if that get you over the hump.

/Download/mirrors/ is working, however /download/mirrors/ still seems to be the outage page.
We are adding it now. Stand by for 10 min.

Thank you very much for this quick work Stacy. This setup should service our users well throughout the weekend.
Great, we can examine moving it back to PHX on Monday once we get through this short period...

Speaking on behalf of the newcomers here, you mean take care (remotely) of the server that is there in Duke or host the fp.o on Duke to some other servers? I asking because over the weekend I'm looking for hosting services for my personal use.

I did not want to crush Seth or Duke, who are currently hosting fedoraproject.org
