I also playing with idea to provide containerized environment for the apps I working on. Something that will be more similar with the production deployment in Openshift, but easy to use. Using the same for the CI and integration testing will be big plus.

Containers instead of VMs might be the next step or Vagrant with podman (if this is supported). Also, having the test environment as part of the CI might be nice.
