It isn't silly.. it is just a lot more complicated than people realize.
The front end set up is easy.. tuning it to be what you want and setting up the backend is not easy. There is a reason why data analysts for ELK are fulltime jobs and the backend usually requires a multitude of servers. A lot of the setups are built around where the data is already in the cloud so you spin up more elastic backends to spread out the load, but our data is in a centralized area. Shipping our data into Amazon/MS/etc cloud is a legal blackhole due to GDPR and other regulations.
