Excellent.
Where can I learn more about the programs that are currently in use (the ones that may need additional programming)?
Most of our apps have their own project space on fedorahosted.org. The big ones:
bodhi (updates manager app) pkgdb (package database) fas (fedora account system) koji (build system) smolt (stats gathering package/database) mirrormanager (manages mirrors users get and much more) elections (simple voting app) community (community information app)
Also, is there a group or person who is most closely associated with automation scripting? (This is what I'm most interested in, but I would love to just help with anything at all.)
Well, depends on which part you mean... we use kickstart and puppet and such to automate a lot of things. ;)
Based on what I'm interested in, are there any specific people I should look to for sponsorship?
For the devel/apps side, look over the above and then specific folks are likely better than others depending on what app you want to work on. For general sysadmin stuff hang out in #fedora-admin/#fedora-noc and someone can assist in sponsoring you.
Hope that helps.
Cody

Hello,
Greetings!
My name is Cody Frazer and I'm interested in helping with the Fedora Project. I'm most interested in doing system administration and the like. I live near St. Louis, Missouri (CST).

Hope this wasn't too much information or useless babble! :)
Not at all. :)
Welcome!
If you haven't already, take a look at: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/GettingStarted and https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_be_a_successful_contributor
We do the vast majority of our communication on IRC, so if you can lurk in #fedora-admin and/or #fedora-noc and ask questions or offer to help with things please do.
We have serveral applications if you are interested in the programming side of things. We always have tons of sysadmin type tickets if you are interested in that side of things. ;)
Again, welcome and hope to chat with you soon!
