The Systems Administrator will work under general supervision of the Academic Technology Specialist to install, configure, document, optimize, and maintain integrity of servers and the desktop audio/video environment at CCRMA. This includes building and installing hardware and performing upgrades for servers and workstations, as well as providing consultation, advice, and training for CCRMA's diverse community of artists and researchers. The successful candidate will be able to learn from example; understand, question, and critique existing and proposed methods; imagine and reimagine boldly; experiment freely; test carefully; and upgrade supported facilities cautiously and frequently. Attention to detail, interest in understanding why something does or doesn’t work, and self-initiative within teamwork are essential. Please update Carla RPM to include Appstream metadata

Hi guys, I am hoping the Fedora maintainer of Carla is on this list. Carla is not showing up in GNOME Software as available to install since the Fedora package does not container the needed metadata to display it there. It should be fairly simple to fix, in fact I think this 2013 blog post from Richard Hughes explaining what is needed is still correct: https://blogs.gnome.org/hughsie/2013/09/13/my-application-isnt-showing-in-t… It is basically ensuring the .desktop file has the correct metadata and that there is an appstream XML file describing the application including a screenshot. Fedora JAM 34: GUVCVIEW audio issue when recording videos

This is a strange problem. I record a video with audio using guvcview and when I play it back there is no audio (video is fine). However, if I playback a video I created with guvcview under Fedora 33 the audio is fine. guvcview with every combination of audio codec and audio device (both from my web cam and from my MOTU audio interface.) gucview audio level bars (overlaid on video display) indicate audio is being received during recording Playback: VLC and Dolphin. If I play an older Fedora 33 video vlc shows up in carla correctly, if I then try to play a new Fedora 34 video it disappears. Log messages: I'm getting lots of these: GUVCVIEW: error setting spin value usb 1-2: Failed to query (SET_CUR) UVC control 10 on unit 3: -32 (exp. 2). qrc:/qml/ApplicationsListPage.qml:126: TypeError: Cannot read property 'application' of null -Keith

Fedora Jam 34 and Ardour 6.7 - No crash reporting

Since upgrading to Ardour 6.7 I noticed that when Ardour 6.7 crashes (due to bad plugins) Fedora no longer captures the crash and presents the Report dialog window. I don't know if this is due to a recent Fedora system update, or a new bug. I did notice that the crash reporting system was working differently within the last week or two ("crash reported but issue not created with Bugzilla"). -Keith
