switchdesk not working F13

I just upgraded to F13 and it's using Gnome and the "switchdesk" command doesn't seem to be working. What's the proper procedure now for changing to KDE in Fedora?

KDE appearance problem

As this does not happen with GNOME and has not been reported for Fedora 12 or older, does anyone know what the problem could be? [ https://bugzilla.redhat.com/600945#c7 ] With a fresh install of F13 KDE x86_64 and default KDE settings, Audacious starts with dark-grey fonts, which are hardly readable: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=421745 > System Settings > Appearance > Fonts Here I don't need to change anything. It is sufficient to click something and revert it again, then click the "Apply" button which gets enabled by that action. Immediately afterwards, the fonts/dialogs in a restarted Audacious become readable until next reboot.

Fresh kopete not working (blank configure dialog)

With a fresh Kopete in F13, I get a blank configure dialog. KDE/F13 only seems "PulseAudio Sound Server". No devices listed.

Hello all, I've cleanly installed F13 on my development workstation. For now, kde-redhat is disabled. (I'll install kde-unstable once 4.5 b2 hits) I'm using the old .kde from my F12/kde-unstable installation, and the same package list as my previous machine. Any idea what's broken? F12/kde-unstable listed the 3 different audio devices I have on my machine. - Gilboa

How to reduce fullscreen flicker

Hi, If you have problems with fullscreen applications flickering when desktop effects are enabled then you can try the following HOWTO: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/KDE/How_to_reduce_fullscreen_flicker As discussed on KWin mailing lists http://lists.kde.org/?l=kwin&m=127557151026528&w=2 at this moment there is no one solution that would be suitable for all users because of performance issues in some applications in fullscreen mode. For office applications running in fullscreen mode flickering can be fixed with disabling of window unredirection with no performance issues but for 3d games this can be unacceptable. So, it was decided to write this HOWTO for help users to make decision. Pointer capture for touchpads?

Hi, is there someothing like the pointer capture applet for gnome for KDE in F12? It is a sentelic touchpad so using synclient and similar workarounds does not work. Thanks Richard

Smb4k and umount.cifs

I've read in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=574904 that smb4k-0.10.7 fixes the missing umount.cifs complaint. Does anyone know when this will be committed to the fedora repos? Also, just out of curiosity, it appears that cifs-utils used to provide umount.cifs, has this changed? Thanks. George

This dbus build includes a bit of an experimental patch to address a race conditition exposed a bit by kde, and nepomuk in particular. See, https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17754 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/599527 If you're a kde-unstable kinda guy or gal, and perhaps have experienced your share of nepomuk-related crashes, please give the dbus-1.2.24-1.1 builds a whirl, to see if it helps any. -- Rex

Device Manager won't unmount

Very recently I've found that when I try to unmount a removable device using the Device Manager plasmoid, it tells me the device is busy even when it isn't (as verified using fuser). I can unmount it from a Shell with no problems. This used to work in F12. I updated to F13 last week and it still worked. I've done several updates since then and it was working till yesterday. No updates since yesterday have anything to do with KDE. Ideas? poc

"NumLock on KDE Startup" grayed out

Hi, In System Settings -> Input Devices -> Keyboard Settings the numlock state on KDE start up can't be set (options are grayed out). Can this be configured somewhere or this a bug? Thanks, Martin Kho Using: KDE 4.4.80 (F14)
