Hi, Is there a KDE4 FTP client? As far as I can tell, the FTP kioslave from KDE3 has not been ported over to KDE4.

I think you're mistaken. ftp:// urls work fine for me in konq/dolphin
Yep. Konqueeror / Dolphin work great.

Interesting. Here's what I see when trying to connect to ftp://download.fedora.redhat.com (which works fine with firefox) using konqueror: ----- The requested operation could not be completed Access Denied
Details of the Request: URL: ftp://download.fedora.redhat.com Protocol: ftp Date and Time: Friday 27 February 2009 12:08 Additional Information: smb://download.fedora.redhat.com
Description: Access was denied to the specified resource, ftp://download.fedora.redhat.com. -----
The only issue I see that the additional information uses the smb kioslave. Is that normal? I couldn't find anything on b.k.o. I am using kdelibs-4.2.0-15.fc10.x86_64 on F10 with everything up to date. I can see that kio_ftp.so exists in /usr/lib64/kde4.

Ok, it does not work with konqueror if a proxy is set for http that does not handle ftp. I can connect to ftp sites so long as I disable my http proxy (privoxy).

Just tried that (on Mandriva+4.1.3). The status line says 'Login OK' and I see three directories. Repeated on the Fedora10+4.2. Same result.

I've seen that error before on an FTP connection (how I loathe password protected FTP). It was weird, I thought my host had messed with the file permissions. Eventually I closed Konqueror and reopened and it magically started working.

It would seem that redhat.com and fedoraproject do not allow anonymous ftp connections to their sites. I guess your stuck with the regular http protocol.

Sure they do. :-)

Did you notice that they are saying that Konqueror doesn't open FTP URLs Correctly, but other clients do...
Any client that I have ever used (nsftp, Filezilla, Cyberduck on Macs, Freaking IE on Windows) works but Konqueror doesn't...
But then, is it a bug? Or is it not?
I recommend Filezilla as the best GUI Client...

As I said earlier - it works for me. Yes, I did use Konqueror.

OK... This was helpful. It would seem that some sites don't deal with non PASV mode ftp. I just enabled PASV mode in System Settings -> Network Settings -> Connection Preferences and I was able to connect to
download.fedora.redhat.com
but not to download.fedoraproject.org
