Good day, I have downloaded and burned on DVD image Fedora-18-x86_64-Live-KDE.iso. After booting from the DVD a login screen appears where user name 'liveuser' is filled in and password is blank. I'm not able to log in. I tried blank password and passwords like root, liveuser, demo but it always brings me back to the login screen. Please advise. Thank you in advance. Vojta

try login to "KDE Plasma Workspace (failsafe session)" instead. Most likely the session is crashing for some reason (easiest explanation is video driver crash trying to enable desktop effects).

Unfortunately I can see no such option in the boot menu. I can see only these options: - Start Fedora 18 - Troubleshooting -- Start Fedora 18 in basic graphics mode -- Test media and start Fedora 18 -- Run a memory test -- Boot from local -- Tab for full config. options I experience the same problem in the Basic graphics mode. A blue screen appears with label Fedora in the bottom left corner. Then an icon of a harddrive appears, then nothing happens for long time and then a login screen appears. When I login again a harddrive icon appears again, then for some time nothing happens and again login screen. Thank you. Vojta

The option to switch to failsafe session is in the login screen, not in the bootloader. Look for a blue (?) arrow that will bring down a popup menu, where you can pick the session.
Cheers, Dan
Thank you. Vojta _______________________________________________ kde mailing list kde@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/kde New to KDE4? - get help from http://userbase.kde.org

Oh, I see. Thank you. Unfortunately I'm not able to login even with failsafe session. The problem still persists. Is it possible to install Fedora 18 from terminal? That's the only option that works for me.

One more info, I tried Fedora-18-x86_64-Live-Desktop.iso also and it worked. But I'd like to use KDE instead of Gnome.

You can install KDE after the fact (e.g. by "yum groupinstall kde-desktop"), if you haven't already (I know the answer is late).
