Hi , The iSeries box on which i want to install Fedora is a iSeries 810 (Power 4). I've already installed a Redhat 7.1 and a Suse Entreprise 8.0 on this machine (just for tests) in a LPAR. How can i launch the Fedora Setup on such box ? I remember that for the Redhat 7.1, i needed to - copy the vmlinux file on the IFS (Integrated File System) of the iSeries - configure the LPAR to boot from a STMF (Stream file) located in the root of the iSeries file system - Vary on (power on) the LPAR on the iSeries - Kernel boots and launch the setup program (from that point, i configured the LAN and choose to install from an NFS server) So, do you think i just need for the Fedora to : - copy the files located here : http://ftp.belnet.be/linux/fedora/linux/core/development/ppc/ppc/iSeries on my iSeries - launch the LPAR like i did in the past for the Redhat 7.1 ? Other question : Is the Fedora PPC an official part of the Fedora project (i had a look on the Fedora main site, but they're talking about Intel/X86-64 only). And if it the case, can we hope that a real Fedora on iSeries/pSeries (i meant, other than the Rawhide version) will be released ? Works better if I have the attached patch too. Xorg doesn't seem to receive mouse events from the USB mouse after resume, but 'od -t x1 /dev/input/mice' does continue to work after resume. I'll investigate that one further. -- dwmw2

Sheep.c fixes for MOL

I spent some time last night toying with Mac On Linux, and I have attached the diff containing the modifications to sheep.c that allowed me to compile this successfully. I also had to hand massage the /lib/modules/2.6.9-1.640/build/include/asm/setup.h file, but that might be something strange on my end. The modification that I had to make was.. Changing #include <asm-m68k/setup.h> to #include <asm/setup.h> I dont know what this might break, but I guess I'll find out The patch for sheep.c is attached in unified diff format. Probably patched from the wrong directory in an entirely wrong way... but maybe it'll help someone. -- -- Wade Mealing

Test patch for sleep on Aluminium PowerBooks

Hi ! This is an experimental patch against 2.6.9. It concerns the ATI based Aluminium PowerBook. The nVidia based ones aren't concerned at all, and the iBook G4 will have to wait a bit more for me to get the video wakeup code right. It will add sleep (suspend-to-ram) support for these machines. It's based on various tested bits but is untested on these machines in it's current form, so let me know. Ben.

I have just installed Fedora Core-2 on my Powerbook G4, but I can't get sound to work. For the install, I followed the helpful instructions at: http://www.bytebot.net/geekdocs/ibook/fedorappc.html http://lists.ydl.net/pipermail/fedora-ppc/2004-September/000180.html , installed http://fedora.linux.duke.edu/fedorappc/FC2 , and got sleep to work using ftp://ftp.linux.org.uk/pub/people/dwmw2/fc2-mac/RPMS/pmud-0.10-1.1.ppc.rpm However, I can't get sound to work. Fedora on IBM iSeries

Hi, (i've already post this message to fedora-ppc(a)lists.ydl.net, but it seems this list is closed. Sorry if you received it twice ...) I was searching google for Linux on iSeries (i work for a IBM Business partner in Belgium), and i found that in the Fedora Development branch it exists a folder containing iSeries kernel. (like here : http://ftp.belnet.be/linux/fedora/linux/core/development/ppc/ppc/iSeries/) So my question is : is it possible now to install a Fedora on an IBM iSe= ries ? If possible, how can i do this (i didn't find any doc on this) ? I've setup several Redhat/Suse on iSeries but because i like Fedora (i've also installed a lot of Fedora on xSeries - Intel Platforms) i was wondering if setting up a Fedora on iSeries was possible. Flash plugin

I fixed some problems and put together an RPM with the free flash player. It's not going to be able to play 100% of flash content, but it's better than nothing. ftp://ftp.uk.linux.org/pub/people/dwmw2/fc2-mac/RPMS/flash-0.4.10-1.ppc.rpm ftp://ftp.uk.linux.org/pub/people/dwmw2/fc2-mac/SRPMS/flash-0.4.10-1.src.rpm If we really want _everything_ to work I suppose we need to look at using the SWF libraries which are part of RealPlayer. We already know how to use the RealPlayer libraries for audio decoding, after all... -- dwmw2

Issue with booting off FC3 dev install disk

Hi All, I'm trying to install on a p615 using a FC3 dev install disk I recently downloaded. At kernel load I get "Unrecoverable FP Unavailable Exception 800 at d00000000002ad28". Has anyone else seen this and/or know how to get around it? Thanks, Niki
