repodata for fc3-updates-ppc?

TEST: Sleep patch #7

(As usual, I'm cross posting several lists, please don't reply to all of them, and CC me as I'm not subscribed to all of them neither) Ok, here's the 7th version of the sleep patch for ATI based albooks & iBook G4. Other machine users, please test too as it may cause regressions (or improvements) as well. The cache flush problem happens to not be completely fixed yet :( There is something going on that I don't completely explain yet, might be related to an errata of some CPU revisions. This version of the patch adds a load/flush loop before the L2 HW flush on the 745x that appear to make the thing stable on the machines I've tested on. It's a good enough workaround for now, I'm working with freescale to find out what's really going on though. http://gate.crashing.org/~benh/albook-ibookg4-sleep-7.diff Ben.

Installing Fedora on a TiBook G4

Hi, I've decided to give it a try with Fedora on my TiBook G4, but have some problems with installation (probably quite stupid ones) I'm trying to install it with the 4 isos provided, but after the installer is finished with the 1st cd and requests the second one, i'm not able to eject the cd, cause the eject button doesn't work yet... Has anyone a solution for that? I've also a pc, maybe i can put the contents of the 4 cds there and install it via network somehow. Maybe someone could give me a hint. Thanks -- Psssst! Problem when trying to install from FC3-ISO's

Hi all. I'm new to mac but not so new to Linux. I bought an ibook g3 600 12" and wanna install fc3 on it. When i saw the announcement that test iso'z where out, i've decided to try. Well, I've download the isoz files and the boot.iso and burned it. When i boot from the boot.iso, i type linux and anaconda starts. I selected Local CDROM but(don't laugh, :-) ) i can't eject the boot.iso from there. When I try F12, anaconda tries to "go next" and don't eject the cdrom. Will I have to install it using NFS or its possible to make it from my cd's? Thanks for the attention, -- Alberto P.S.: Sorry about my english, :-)

how stable is this?

I may have an opportunity to try fc3 on a 12" PowerBook G4. I just want to know if YDL 4 is more stable and what are the differences between ydl and fc-ppc? Should I be afraid of braking something up with fc-ppc? -- -a

compiling Mac on Linux

What needs to be done to compile MOL under FC3? All of my attempts following the directions on the MOL site have failed. Any pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks, Scott Phipps

fsck.ext3 Unable to resolve `Label..

Hello! After several installations I still get this error every time "fsck.ext3 Unable to resolve `LABEL=/1`. Give root password for maintenance (or type Control-D to continue) And after giving root password I Can´t change anything because I'm in read only mode. Any ideas? Thanks! Petrus

Announcing Fedora Core 3 for PowerPC platforms

The Fedora Project is proud to announce a TESTING tree for Fedora Core 3 on the PowerPC platforms It is available at: http://fedoraproject.org/fedorappc/FC-3/ For most part, the isos/ directory contains all 8 ISOs, the first four which are the binaries, the remainder which are SRPMS. If you want a complete binary install, the first 4 ISOs are all you require. The os/ directory contains a full tree of Fedora Core 3 for the PPC platform. As a bonus, we created a repository, so that you can have a yum repository to point to after installation. The repository is: http://fedoraproject.org/fedorappc/FC-3/os/Fedora/RPMS/ Updates are also available, at a yum-ified repository: ftp://ftp.uk.linux.org/pub/people/dwmw2/fc3-updates-ppc/ Some notes about the release: the release is known to not boot on G5's, and we are working on re-building another tree, which we can push out soon. Sleep support for the G4 iBook's and Powerbooks isn't implemented upstream yet, but there are testing kernels available in RPM form To install the release, you need boot.iso from the os/images/ directory (use mac/pseries appropriately) as well as at least CD1 (disc 1 is not blessed). When booting the boot.iso CD, hold down the 'C' key, and use the "linux askmethod" option. Prep support

Greetings: I have an old 7428-100 1st generation 43P. Which is believe is PREP and not CHRP. After downloading the first CD iso image and loop mounting it it appears that there is only a boot image for CHRP machines, is PREP supported, planned or otherwise? Thanks, Terry
