Sometimes I get the message "Retrieving Folder Contents Please wait" when reading email on on KMail (under Fedora-19). Nothing happens after this. If I close KMail and re-open it, the message is still there. Even if I log out (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace) and login again, the message remains. The only solution I have found is to re-boot the machine.
Has anyone else met this problem? It occurs every 2 or 3 days, so it is not fatal. But it is rather annoying.

Probably restarting akonadi should fix those cases. Alt + F2 and typing akonadi should give you the akonadi configuration that allows to restart akonadi. FWIW this is an overkill but it should avoid the need to reboot.

Thanks, I'll try that next time the problem occurs.
I did actually try going to Akonadi Console and disabling/enabling the IMAP server in question, but that didn't do the trick.
