Is there a way to specify the window size for my apps? OK, I know about .xresources (at least, I did know about it 20 years ago). Is there a more modern appoach?
What I'd like is, open the app, size the window, and say right click on the window decoration to tell kde I want to save that size setting.

And if I had bothered to try it, I would have found that it's right there where I'd expect it.
advanced/special application/setting size+pos tab.

There's
kstart --geometry <geometry> <app>
See kstart --help-kde for details
some apps have the ability to save or preconfigue size, e.g. konsole remembers last size and restores the next time launched, but that's one a case-by-case basis.
