Getting more metrics: Fedora net promoter score survey

Hey everyone! I happened by chance to meet someone at Red Hat who works on Red Hat's Net Promoter Score program. NPS, if you're not familiar, is a metric based on the simple question "How likely are you to recommend this?" on a scale from 0-10. I think this can be very useful, especially as tracked over time. And it turns out that the group at Red Hat who does this would be happy to provide this to Fedora as a service. I'd like to make a link to this survey available on some of the various Fedora websites. (Get Fedora, Fedora Magazine, Ask Fedora...) We'll ask that basic question and a couple of followups like "Do you participate in the Fedora community" and "What are your top challenges?" (This is different from the demographic / contributor survey and won't ask any of those sorts of questions.) For, like, a hotel chain, you usually get this survey as an email to some customer list. While we have email addresses of Fedora contributors, for obvious reasons we aren't gonna be using those for this in bulk. I also don't feel good about using the announce list — I will probably include a link to the survey in future release announcements, but just sending mail about the survey itself doesn't feel like what people signed up to that list for. I am thinking, though, of creating a "please survey me" mailing list that people can opt-in to — if you sign up, we'll email you once every three months or six months or so. What do you think of this idea overall? We also have the option of creating more specific surveys focused on an edition or spin, if your team would be interested in such a thing. -- Matthew Miller <mattdm(a)fedoraproject.org> Fedora Project Leader

In this cycle, the community is electing: * 1 member to the Fedora Council * 5 member to the Fedora Engineering Steering Committee (FESCo) * 1 member to the Fedora Mindshare Committee Voting is open through 23:59 UTC on Thursday, 5 December. Approval required: Weblate deployment

Dear council members, in August 11th, I opened this issue: https://pagure.io/Fedora-Council/tickets/issue/268 (Long term funding request: translation platform hosting) in September 4th, the issue was closed as validated. Since: 1. we got a test from Weblate: https://translate.stg.fedoraproject.org/stats/ where we got 63 contributors for 33 languages, doing over three thousands contributions. 2. The Weblate dev did the work to send events to fedora-messaging for community monitoring https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/issue/8291 3. The change proposal was validated: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Translation_platform_migration_to_We… 4. We have a working internationalization system for our docs: https://docs.stg.fedoraproject.org/fr/project/ with some incoming progress stats: https://jibecfed.fedorapeople.org/docs-l10n/localization/ But because of contract and legal question not being fully answered, I had to stop deployment. It's been a month with no change, I need your help. We had some requests from libvirt team (also including libvirt-glib, virt-viewer, entangle, osinfo-db, osinfo-db-tools, libosinfo, virt-manager, libvirt-sandbox) but I can't start the work with them. The https://ovirt.org team also asked me to use the fedora Weblate instance for hosting their translation. Can you please: * give me the approval to continue deployment even if administrative aspect aren't finalized * confirm you won't have any hosting agreement with Weblate based on a string or words volume, as this would prevent us to welcome any relevant new projects (as long as they use one of the open-source licenses we allow in Fedora, it should be sufficient) * validate the work done by Weblate dev to send events to fedora-messaging, and give them the required credential to send events Time-outs in a project are like sport, they break the rhythm. It's been a month of waiting, my time like many others is on a voluntary basis, I don't have time allocated over a period of time that I can choose to spend as I see fit, can we please move forward? Are working groups subprojects?

Hi Council, As far as I'm aware, there are four Fedora Working Groups (Workstation, Server, IoT, CoreOS), each of which is responsible for a Fedora Edition. These have their home pages on the wiki [1, 2, 3, 4]. However, these pages don't seem to be advertised anywhere, and I'd like to try and increase their exposure, so that people can find the WGs more easily. One possibility here would be to add the WGs to the list of subprojects [5]. However, it isn't clear to me whether a WG is a subproject or not. Would it be OK to add the WGs to the list of subprojects? Fedora 31 Elections: Nomination period open

Today we are starting the Nomination & Campaign period during which we accept nominations to the "steering bodies" of the following teams: * FESCo (Engineering) (5 seats) [1] * Fedora Council (1 seat) [2] * Mindshare (1 seat) [3] This period is open until 2019-11-13 at 23:59:59 UTC. Candidates may self-nominate. If you nominate someone else, please check with them to ensure that they are willing to be nominated before submitting their name. The steering bodies are currently selecting interview questions for the candidates. Nominees submit their questionnaire answers via a private Pagure issue. The Election Wrangler or their backup will publish the interviews to the Community Blog before the start of the voting period. Please note that the interview is mandatory for all nominees. Nominees not having their interview ready by end of the Interview period (2019-11-20) will be disqualified and removed from the election. As part of the campaign people may also ask questions to specific candidates on the appropriate mailing list. The full schedule of the elections is available on the Elections schedule[4].
