Klipper - odd behaviour

Since RC1 I have had frequent problems with highlight/middle-click not working. Often I can paste with Ctrl-V when middle-click does nothing. The second problem is that klipper seems to get stuck, sometimes - possibly connected with the dbus bug? Anyway, when that happens I can't view the cliboard. Using System Activity I can send the Signal STOP, wait until I see it stopped, then send the Signal CONT. After that the clipboard content is visible and usable again. requirements for default apps

While at FUDCon back in Dec, it occurred to me to come up with 1. some specs and requirements to use as objective criteria when it comes to choices about default applications in fedora-kde. 2. general wishlist/todo items to make better https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Rdieter/FUDCon_Toronto_KDE_F13_TODOs In general, these are items that are doable in the F13-development timeframe. I have a couple of ulterior motives when it comes to requirements and default applications: 1. It's inevitably a FAQ about "why did you include app <foo> instead of <bar>?" 2. I'm disgruntled about a couple of our current default choices (*cough* kbluetooth, kpackagekit *cough*), and would like to explore other possibilities So, please comment on what you consider to be core requirements when it comes to: 1. packagekit frontend/integration 2. networkmanager frontend 3. bluetooth device support 4. phonon backend 5. anything else you can think of... I've been watching and waiting for KDE 4.4 for a while now. Is it in updates-testing ? What is holding it up and when should we expect it to be pushed to updates ? Thanks.

bindings: what's the big idea!?

I am not a software developer. I am a day-to-day home computer user and I like to have my system running, up-to-date, and capable of all that the installed software is capable of (given any hardware limitations). So... What are bindings? Do I need all of them? Which ones do I need? What if I don't have some of them installed? I am confused and yum info package does not make it any clearer: qt bindings to python, kde3 bindings to python, qscintilla pyqt4 bindings, etc. What do they do? Are they just for software development, or do these programs need to be 'bound' to eachother to get the software to function with all of it's intended features? A while back, when we were upgrading to kde-4.3.90, I had to uninstall a number of these various and sundry bindings to python to get the upgrade to work. I cannot notice any difference without them. As far as I am able to ascertain, they don't appear to be required. Now, a few, well... qscintilla-python, are again available and I am asking myself: should I slavishly reinstall all of these packages when they don't seem to actually do anything? Or are they really doing something more subtle that is not immediately apparent?

KBluetooth doesn't seem to work

I plugged in a USB Bluetooth device, and tried to add a new device with KBluetooth, but would not allow me to add an Audio device, only an Input device, which itself did not find my headset. I had to use the gnome bluetooth-applet to add my headset. -- Fedora 11 (www.pembo13.com)

Ghost applications stay on the panel ?

I'm running F12/ KDE with all the latest updates. $ uname -a Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.31.9-174.fc12.i686.PAE #1 SMP Mon Dec 21 06:04:56 UTC 2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux $ rpm -q kdelibs kdelibs-4.3.4-3.fc12.i686 $ rpm -q qt qt-4.5.3-9.fc12.i686 I am running dual displays within 1 KDE session. I have 2 panels installed on my main display. 1 panel is at the bottom of the display. It has the system tray and a bunch of application icons The other panel is at the top of the display. It has a Pager and Task Manager Widget installed on it. I generally have 6 to 15 applications open at one time, spread across 2 to 5 desktops. Typically 1 Evolution app, 1 or 2 Open Office apps, 3 to 5 browsers, 2 to 6 Okular apps, Eclipse, digiKam, etc. I have my system set up to show applications in Task Manager on a desktop by desktop basis. I have 2 problems: 1) Some application icons are appearing on the taskbar for multiple desktops. For example, I might open FF in Desktop 5 but an icon for it will appear in both Desktop 5 and Desktop 2, even though I do not have a FF application running in Desktop 2. 2) When I close an application with an icon appearing on multiple desktops, the icon remains in the task manager and there is now way to get rid of it, short of ending the session. Not a nice thing to have to do when one has 6 to 15 applications open. The application seems to close properly. It seems as though the taskbar isn't getting rid of the icon. Does this happen to anyone else ? Thanks

kde3 changes made which result in crashes for apps like ktechlab and piklab ?

Hello there, It was reported to me that ktechlab and piklab(both still using kde3 libs) are crashing upon launch on F-12. I confirm those crashes and I suggest it's some modifications you made to the fedora kde3 libs. Both ktechlab and piklab still have a long way before we see a stable qt4 version of each, hence I would appreciate if you can look why these apps are failing to pull proper kde3 libs. thank you Chitlessh

Dolphin sort by file name differs than shell

Hello, I am curious why Dolphin shows different ordering when sort by filename than showed by 'ls' in terminal. For example, see: http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/2114/dolphinordering.png I think the one shows by "ls" makes more sense, especially in this particular case where the file name seems to have hex numbering in it. I am wondering if this was intentional, or a bug in Dolphin. Thanks AC
