Update on Soprano/Sesame progress -- review swaps?

For anyone who's still interested in my project to get the Sesame backend for Sesame packaged, here's the latest... Unfortunately, I didn't get anything done over the holidays, but I'm now back and keen to move forwards on this. All of the required updates to existing Fedora packages have now been made, so the "only" thing left to do is the reviews of the new packages. The document at https://fedoraproject.org/w/uploads/c/c9/Sesame-Dependencies.pdf shows the current state of the package dependencies. In summary, the most urgent review at the moment is javamail and then, once that's done, logback, because the whole chain of aduna-* packages all depend (directly or indirectly) on logback. xml-security is another "leaf-node" package that could be done at any time, but it's not actually needed until all of the other stuff has been processed so it's less urgent. I'm willing to review any packages, particularly Java-based packages, in return for anyone who can review these packages. Once it gets to the aduna-* packages, the spec files are all nearly identical so hopefully they can be processed fairly efficiently. kde-unstable dependency issue

Trying to update with kde-unstable enabled: --> Finished Dependency Resolution kdebase-runtime-libs-4.3.85-2.fc12.x86_64 from kde-unstable has depsolving problems --> Missing Dependency: libssh.so.4()(64bit) is needed by package kdebase-runtime-libs-4.3.85-2.fc12.x86_64 (kde-unstable) Error: Missing Dependency: libssh.so.4()(64bit) is needed by package kdebase-runtime-libs-4.3.85-2.fc12.x86_64 (kde-unstable) Is this a known issue? F11 updates failing

I haven't been able to get updates for my F11 netbook for the last few days. I'm seeing lots of lines like kdepimlibs-4.3.4-1.fc11.i586 from installed has depsolving problems --> Unresolvable requirement kdelibs4 >= 4.3.4 for kdepimlibs-4.3.4-1.fc11.i586 (installed) 6:kdemultimedia-4.3.4-1.fc11.i586 from installed has depsolving problems --> Unresolvable requirement kdelibs4 >= 4.3.4 for 6:kdemultimedia-4.3.4-1.fc11.i586 (installed) I've run the suggested tools, cleaned metadata etc., to no avail. Kontact fom KDE SC 4.3.85 stops on screensaver

Hello, I have KDE SC 4.3.85 on Fedora 12 x86_64 and everytime the screensaver starts koontact seems to hang. I seems to work down under, I can see the status bar polling the email but it does not respond to any mouse click. Can anyone confirm this? Christoph

Unable to change date/time with KDE SC 4.4 Beta

Hello I've a system that's updated with kde-redhat, kde-unstable and kde-testing repos enabled. I'm unable to change the system date & time (when logged in as a non-root user). The "Date & Time" item in system settings displays the date & time with a warning that "You are not allowed to save the configuration". After changing the date or time setting, the 'Apply' button becomes active and clicking it seems to change the values. But when the configuration item is closed, it again asks to apply changes and when I choose to do so, I get an error message: " Unable to authenticate/execute the action: 4, " It used to work in the older version where I'd be offered to enter the root password to apply the changes. Anything to do with PolicyKit/polkit? Syam

Krunner quiet useless on 4.3.85

Morning guys, Happy new year guys first of all. I hope we will see a good and healthy year and ofcourse a great KDE year! But back to business I have a lot of problems with krunner, it crashes 8 of the 10 times. Also user switching doesn't work often because there are no uses in the krunner dialog. 4.3.85 Akonadi/mysql startup problems

Hi, yesterday, I've installed the 4.3.85 packages on my F12-i686 machine. Thanks a lot to Rex and the other people from the KDE-SIG for providing the packages! From previous postings I was expecting quite a lot of trouble with akonadi, and sure enough akonadi doesn't start during kde startup. However, once kde is up and running I can start akonadi w/o problems from System Settings->Akonadi, WTF? When I run the test, two problems are highlighted. 1) MySQL server log contains errors. 100102 9:36:11 [ERROR] Can't open and lock privilege tables: Table 'mysql.servers' doesn't exist I've found the following userbase entry: http://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi#Table_.27mysql._servers.27_doesn.27t_exist I haven't tried the recommended fix yet, because I'm a bit confused. I'm supposed to modify a default akonadi config file to make akonadi work in the first place? Seriously? Should I bugzilla this for Fedora if the fix works? 2) Previous Akonadi server log error found Control process died, committing suicide! I expect to find something like this because akonadi didn't start correctly at kde startup. But why does it start w/o any problem when I start it manually? Kontact doesn't work correctly as long as akonadi isn't running. For instance, while it shows the mail subject in the message list pane, it doesn't display the mail contents. Once akonadi was running, the migration was painless. The only oddity was that my imap addressbook was shown 5 times. I deleted 4 entries and everything seemed ok. Cheers, Andreas

Assuming I were to take the time to tag some files and folders, as well as rate them (the stars) and/or even have comments for these items... Is there a way to back this information up so that it can be restored upon upgrade to rawhide/F13 or to a potential reinstallation of F12 or even to a different distro (were I inclined to want to peruse)?

Kopete notifications

Hi Anybody using Kopete on 4.4 SC beta? I can't disable the notifications. Even though they are disabled in Settings > 'configure notifications', I get notifications whenever someone comes online or whenever someone sends me a message. By notification, I mean the popup that appears from the syst tray notification widget. Anyone else seeing this? Syam
