各位好，我是一位自由軟體的翻譯者。目前我與一位關注自由軟體翻譯與中文化議題的朋友，預計籌劃個 Linux 與自由軟體翻譯，以及其他中文化議題討論專用的論壇。大家或許會有疑問，為什麼要專門設個討論區呢？目前網路上雖有許多 Linux 散布版 (distribution) 的討論區，但因所屬散布版不見得大家都會去關注、查看留言，無法集中討論。而使用者們也不清楚如果發現什麼翻譯上，或是中文化環境上的問題，應該去哪裡回報、討論、分享。原先我們討論的構想中，這是一個「面向使用者」的翻譯討論區，主要有「問題回報」、「翻譯工具與技巧」、「聚會與活動」... 等區塊。當我們從使用者回饋中得到反應時，管理者幫忙通報給最後一位翻譯者。使用者們也可以討論、學習翻譯自由軟體，降低進入翻譯領域的門檻。甚至可以舉辦聚會活動，讓大家一起分享最近在做哪些翻譯，或有什麼新點子可以讓翻譯變得更好、怎麼讓大家更積極參與翻譯。將資源集中起來。而翻譯者們還是依賴翻譯者自己的通訊平臺相互溝通，像是 mailing list 或是 google groups 之類的，而這樣的作法將提供個集中、統一的平臺給使用者群。但一切都尚未確定，我們現在有的是 http://l10n.linux.org.tw/ 這個域名，將提供的服務與內容都開放討論，將視大家的意見與需求而更動。大家對於目前的構想有什麼建議呢？以及對於這樣新的翻譯相關網站有什麼期許呢？歡迎給予指教。我們未來也希望能有個翻譯者的聚會，大家一起聊聊翻譯的現況，以及對於這個網站的看法；如果願意參與的話，歡迎回覆期望的時間 (舉例：七月中、八月中、週末...之類)，以及你所在的地點。這個網站成立以後，也希望翻譯者間能有個定期聚會，讓大家交流分享，活絡一下氣氛。我們也會盡力推廣這個網站出去給各大自由軟體社群，或是合作，讓它顯示在各大自由軟體論壇的連結中，讓使用者能輕鬆瞭解翻譯問題該去哪裡回報。 -- Sincerely, by Cheng-Chia Tseng
