Linux Action Show at Flock 2015

Hi guys, Earlier I had the idea to have a bigger press presence about and around Fedora, so I made a ticket on the marketing trac (#144), that would be a good idea or not to have one of the best and known linux podcasters - The Linux Action Show - on our upcoming Flock. They are running pretty long time an recurring linux show, and lots of users are waching it. If you don't know them: check at www.jupitebroadcasting.com Also not so long ago I have sent an request as the LAS team has interest to visit us in Rochester or not, and I have received an response and a contact. Here is the last response: "As a Fedora user I would LOVE to come to your event and checking my Google calendar it doesn't look like we have anything on the books for August. I can't say for sure as neither Chris nor I have the brain power to think about this until after SELF.' Thank you for reaching out, I hope I can make it! Noah J. Chelliah <linuxactionshow(a)jupiterbroadcasting.com>" So, if we returning after SELF event (June 12-14, 2015) to this, I try it again to have a confirmation, and some key members too to have interviews, or live show at the event place if that is possible. But I also wanted to share with the main FLOCK event organisers, and that's why turned towards you guys. Here are my questions: - Is it a good idea to have an LAS show hosted in FLOCK, and do we have capacity for have them on board, and between the participants? FlockBus is a no-go

We don't have enough signups to make a bus charter worthwhile. The next best options are train or carpool. I've notified the Red Hat Westford office also, so people can make other plans, and I updated the wiki page for the bus. -- Paul W. Flock voting issues

Hello, Over the past few weeks the Flock staff has dealt with a number of issues regarding talks and votes. We'd like to address these shortly, so as to limit similar issues in the immediate future. It has come to our attention that at least one Flock talk received a large number of votes from people that have no realistic intention of attending the conference. We have also had requests to swap out accepted talks with a talk that wasn't even on the ballot, or to combine the scores of two low voted talks into one talk about both topics. While none of these actions or requests are against any rules, they certainly go against the spirit of voting for Flock talks. The vote is to allow people attending the conference to have a large hand in setting the agenda for it, therefore making it the best possible conference for the participants. None of the aforementioned actions or requests have had any impact on the actual Flock agenda, but they are still disappointing. The Flock staff will be reevaluating talk votes, the process we use for them, and the eligibility of voters for the next Flock. We welcome discussion on these topics so that we can reach a plan that best meets the Fedora Project's goals. josh, for the Flock staff.

As far as i think Fedora is global contributors project and it make sense to bring some of them on same platform at least once a year. These were few points i wanted to share. I want to meet people with whom i work mostly on irc/bugzilla and want to discuss for future development. Westford FlockBus round-up (so far)

We used this vendor previously for Fedora's FUDCon Toronto 2009 conference and the experience was good. They were on time as needed, and the vehicle (56-passenger bus) and driver quality were good. The bus turned out not to be wifi-equipped, but this was because their outfitter didn't deliver in time as expected. That was six years ago, and they've upgraded several vehicles since then. The bus this time is a newer and different (40-seat) model. Local Motion says it's power and wifi equipped too. The one thing I don't know yet is whether we have to put the drive up on either end at the hotel -- but even if so, the cost would still be considerably below the other vendors. http://www.localmotionofboston.com/bus/motor-coach.htm I noted that one vendor (the one Westford uses for their shuttle service) didn't respond to my RFQ. I'm not terribly driven to track them down since we got several other responses. Are there any objections to going ahead with this vendor? -- Paul W. Local Community Sponsor Tables?

Flocks, I am curious about community sponsor tables at FLOCK. I am circling the wagons with local tech meetups and hacker/maker spaces in Rochester, and would like to encourage them to participate. Is there a process for such arrangements outside of gold/silver/bronze sponsorship for local/community projects?
