Hi all,
as some of you might have noticed (on fedora planet) I have switched
from gnome to xfce and I like xfce very much. However, IMHO there are
issues that need to be addressed to make xfce a first class citizen. I
put together an initial list of them in my wiki space:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Mso/XFCE
Feel free to chime in and edit the page (or its Talk: page) if you feel
something is missing/wrong. Since next major release of xfce (4.10) is
scheduled for next January we're probably talking here about Fedora 17
time frame. So let's join forces and make XFCE rock in Fedora 17.
Cheers,
Martin

Hi Greg and Christoph,
The nm-connection-editor seems like a sweet tool. Although
it crashes when you try to edit an adapter, so back to
system-config-network. Rats! (If I get some free time,
I will post the symptom over on the Fedora forum.)
Thank you both for inviting me to the fedora specific list!

I've been building the XFCE 4.8 stack for EPEL 6 and I think I have the core

I'm assuming we want basically the same structure for el6. So notes follow:
- EL6 does not appear to have any desktop-backgrounds* packages. What to do?
- EL6 does not appear to have imsettings-xfce. What to do?
- Do we really still want xfce4-icon-theme? It is at version 4.4.3 and
nothing appears to require it. For the el6 packages, I've patched it to use
gnome-icon-theme.
- Not yet branched for el6: mousepad, tumbler, xfwm4-theme-nodoka. I'm going
to put in branch requests.
Once I have mousepad, tumbler, and xfwm4-theme-nodoka built I'm going to put
together an update of the above packages.
I'm going to leave it to others to build the various "optional" xfce-desktop
packages.

Hey, everyone. So the third release candidate for the final Fedora 15
release is now up, and this time we have live images, that work! I'm so
excited. (For RC1 and RC2 we had a couple of bugs which stopped some of
the live images from composing, and stopped those that *did* compose
from actually booting).
So as always, we need some desktop validation testing!
You can find the images at
http://serverbeach1.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/15.RC3/Live/ . The
desktop test instructions/results page is:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Fedora_15_Final_RC3_Desktop
Grab an image, go to that page, click on the 'test case' links, do the
tests, and enter your results in the 'Test Matrix' table. I'm afraid
there is no 'profit' step, except the warm fuzzy feeling you get when
contributing to a new Fedora release. We need to do all the tests for
the 'desktop', 'fallback' (GNOME 3 fallback mode), and 'KDE' columns at
least, and it'd be good to get the tests done for the other desktops too
so we know where they stand. If you hit any bugs which are complete
fails for any of the tests, please file them at
http://bugzilla.redhat.com and mark them as blocking the bug
'F15Blocker' (or if you don't have the privileges to do so, poke me and
I'll do it). Thanks! If you have any questions, do go ahead and ask.

Is it a modified Slim used in the F15-Xfce-live?
If so where can one grab it.
As a pure F14-->F15 gives the old Slim. (No Langange selection)
