Removal of Python 2 from the Xfce spin

Hi, we've successfully removed Python 2 from default Workstation installation years ago, today I'd like to see if we could do it in Xfce Spin as well. For those not in the picture: Python 2 ill EOL in 11 months, 22 days [0]. We are trying to get rid of it as much as possible in Fedora [1][2]. Eliminating Python 2 from our defualt installations is an important step here. Today, if I try to uninstall python2 from Xfce spin (rawhide), this is what gets removed as dependent: NetworkManager-openconnect-gnome blueberry gnumeric python2-catfish system-config-keyboard system-config-users Several others go as no longer needed, mostly python2 libs, but also: NetworkManager-openconnect bluez-obex bluez-tools openconnect wmctrl While I doubt the actual usefulness of gnumeric, what bothers me is: 1. It seems that the Bluetooth stack is entirely gone. Do we have an viable alternative? 2. If openconnect is not needed on Workstation, why is it needed in Xfce? 3. Can we set keyboards/users with some alternatives? system-config-* still link to fedorahosted as upstream and haven't received an update in years. They seem pretty upstream dead to me. 4. Catfish is Python 3 compatible, but the Fedora maintainer is not [4]. Thanks for tips. Xfce drop-down terminal stays on previous workspace

Hey, I think that my xfce4-terminal dropdown started to act weirdly. 1. drop down (by a keyboard shortcut) 2. move to a different workspace (by a keyboard shortcut) Before: the drop down terminal "stays with you" Now: the drop down terminal stays on previous workspace, invoking the drop down keyboard shortcut does nothing, you need to go back to the previous worksapce, roll up, move to a new workspace, drop down. All, Just an FYI - Xfce 4.14pre2 releases are starting to trickle out. They are all scheduled to be out by June 30 [0]. I will be submitting all pre2 releases together (except exo, which is already in testing) - similar to how I did pre1 releases. Until then, there will not be updates for individual packages. Customising the label on Cascaded Panel Buttons

People, Is there some way to do this? ATM, eg, clicking on a Panel button for Chrome shows me a list of the various windows I have open and a label for each window determined by which tab is active in that particular window - this is OK for a small number of windows but inefficient for a big project when I have a dozen windows with a dozen tabs in each window with very similar things in the tabs - I would like a FIXED description for each window - irrespective of which tab is active in that window eg: Window 1 ACT Window 2 NSW Window 3 NT Window 4 Queensland Window 5 SA Window 6 Tasmania Window 7 WA Is this possible? In case Fedora xfce users are not aware, 4.14pre1 was officially released today. In Fedora 30 testing repositories, you can find updates available for almost all of these packages (exo is already in stable). I will keep these packages in testing for an extended period (autopush is disabled). Please test and add karma on bodhi. Please file bug reports as needed - either upstream or on fedora/RH bugzilla. Hi, Your email sounds a bit harsh... I think Fedora is doing a great job at packaging xfce! [1] The "xfce4-about" is just a simple tool provided with the libxfce4ui package, but it actually takes the version from `xfce_version_string()` which is defined in libxfce4util. And it happens that upstream still has that string set to "4.12", better file a bug upstream, but calling it a "useless piece of code" is unlikely to give you the traction you ask for. As for the package list you posted, xfce is made of different modules which have different versions, not all packages follow the same scheme. Actually, 4.13.x is 4.14-pre-something, so it looks to me you do have a pre-version of 4.14 installed. Of course, one important piece of the puzzle (xfwm4) is missing in your list because you queried "xfce*" which excludes xfwm4... Cheers, Olivier [1] Granted, I am biased.
