Can anyone else reproduce this? I don't know if this is a Fedora 26 regression, or if it's been around since Fedora 25, but I can only find old bugs about it. If it were not a very recent regression I'd expect there'd be a more current bug report already.
The gist is that I don't see SMB shares in any open / save dialogs; I have to navigate to /run/user/1000/gvfs/smb-share:server=192.168.1.115,share=scratch/
And now I can open and save things...

Except with flatpak programs, for which I opened a separate bug. https://github.com/flatpak/flatpak/issues/893
OK so it looks like it's just happening with flatpaks, Chrome, and Firefox. With Firefox it's a 10 year old bug, and looks like it's cross platform. I haven't looked into the Chrome bug.
I'm guessing eventually flatpak apps will have the ability to open and save documents on a file server.
