A quick update on the size of the desktop spin:
I have written a patch to split libgweather into a bazillion langpacks, you can see it here:
http://people.redhat.com/mclasen/split-libgweather.patch http://people.redhat.com/mclasen/comps-libgweather.patch
I am not entirely happy with this approach, but it certainly solves the size problem. An x86_64 iso that I build with that reduced libgweather came at 692M. What I don't like about it:
- It creates some 80 new packages - Some langpacks don't have a matching lang support group in comps
There is a number of other pending changes that should give us some space back:
- drop libsexy: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=509299 - drop ImageMagick: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=472103 - drop esound-libs: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=492982 - drop some big unneeded files from packages: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=512502 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=463773 - complete the PolicyKit 1 ports and drop PolicyKit 0.9 - drop gst-mixer again - maybe drop krb5-auth-dialog
