I thought I should point out that the packaging guidelines around GConf schemas have changed a while ago. We now have macros that simplify the handling of schemas. Details can be found at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:ScriptletSnippets#GConf
Other recent changes:
A %clean section is no longer required (starting with F13), and it is no longer necessary to wipe the buildroot in %install: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Guidelines#.25clean
