Hello everyone,
I have a small HP notebook and I thought of installing Fedora 27 Workstation on it. I tried it live but it turned out that all input are off or frozen. No touchpad, mouse, trackpad or keyboard will get a response from the system as soon as it loads Gnome Shell. It had Manjaro installed and worked fine. I tried Fedora 25 and worked fine so I installed it and updated it. I'm going to upgrade to 26 and then 27 and see if breaks at some moment. My questions are: 1) Is this a known issue? 2) Where should report this? Well, that's all for now.
Kind regards, Silvia FAS: Lailah
Hi Silvia -
It's a bit hard to know where to start with this issue - I'd guess that it's one of:
A) The kernel B) udev C) libinput
I'd start by adding systemd.unit=multi-user.target to the kernel command line, and see if you have keyboard and can log in to the non-graphical session. If tha tworks, try 'startx' to see if an X session works - if that works, it would imply that it's something wayland related.
Regards, Owen

Hi, Thanks for the quick reply. Well, I don't know how can I get to type anything if keyboard is not responding (in live session). About Xorg and Wayland... I installed F25 and upgraded to F26. In 25 the cursor works fine but on 26 has glimpses. On both, Xorg and Wayland. I didn't try to upgrade to F27 but I suspect it will get worse. Also, to see if it's desktop related, I installed XFCE and has the same issues, although it works overall better than Gnome. I can try to boot from an older kernel and see if there's any difference. adding 'systemd.unit=multi-user.target' (*) to the kernel command actually happens before you get to the gdm screen - it happens at an early stage before the Fedora kernel is even loaded. See:
https://docs.fedoraproject.org/f27/system-administrators-guide/kernel-module...
Owen
(*) for historical, but rather convenient reasons, you can just add '3' to the kernel command line rather than that, and it will mean the same thing.

on the tty, you can try sudo libinput debug-events to see if the devices are detected by libinput. If you see key and pointer events go past, at least that part of the stack seems to work correctly.
Also, while you're on the tty you can access the journal from the last boot which may have some information.

Hello,
But if I'm using the live version of Fedora 27, I can do nothing. I can't use the keyboard or move the cursor or anything. I will try in the installed version (Fedora 26) that is still working but has glimpses. I'll send the results.
Thanks so much, Silvia FAS: Lailah
