Hi Listers!
Has anyone installed VSFTPD on fedora or Redhat 9! If yes how can I create a user with their password. Remember I need the instruction from the comman line not from the graphical user interface! Thanks in advance as always! Ahmed Alasow attaining one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the pinnacle of excellence. No. vsftp uses the native OS usernames and passwords. You do need to be root.
If you have a choice, you might be better off using openssh's built in "sftp" for better security on the wire. Unfortunately, most windows boxes don't have an sftp client installed.
BTW, this probably is not the best list for this discussion. You might get better responses to this kind of question on the fedora-list.

I think it may use an external password file as well... Behaviour can be configured via vsftpd.conf.
