Unfortunately, they didn't do a distro break down this year. But, the overall Linux desktop is up to 23.2%, up from 22.5% in 2016 (they didn't ask last year) and continuing a trend of share growth from the years before that.

Another interesting one is "Platform", i.e. what you develope _for_:
Linux 48.3% Windows Desktop or Server 35.4%
and Most Loved ... Platforms
Linux 76.5%
Linux is strong, at least as reflected by stack overflow.
Very little diversity:
Male 92.7% Straight or heterosexual 93.2% White or of European descent 74.2%
Many developers work on code outside of work. Over 80% of our respondents say that they code as a hobby. Other interests or responsibilities outside of software don't seem to reduce developers' interest in coding as a hobby. Those who said they are parents or have other caretaking responsibilities, those who exercise daily, or those who spend the most time outside were slightly more likely to code as a hobby than other groups.
Interesting.

_---_-_- (kinship)
/~ *~~________ (competition) ~________ (inferiority to peers)
Also interesting.
