Angika (anp) is endangered : Initiating l10n of Fedora in Angika

Hi, As per the UNESCO Interactive Atlas of the World’s Languages in Danger, Angika (anp) [1] is in the vulnerable state. This is sad but a fact. I firmly believe on the statement that with a language not only the language dies; with the language, history, intellectual and cultural diversity and cultural identity also die. So need is to preserve the huge loss of precious human languages that are dying one by one. I want to work for creating Fedora in Angika language with the help of the community. Hope the community here will support me as well. Angika is commonly written in the Devanagari script [2]. a couple of issues in anaconda for Fedora 20

There are a few strings used in partitioning in anaconda, which are in blivet project in transifex [1]. I reported some missing strings in bug 1015919 [2] and I don't know if there are other modules like blivet being used by anaconda for Fedora 20. You should translate that project for anaconda too. There are also some bitmaps shown like slides during installation, which I'm tracking with bug 1013280 [3]. If there are not svg sources for these images, the Spanish team will provide the translated bitmaps in that bug. If there are svg sources, maybe someone would be able to automate the translation process for all teams, creating a small pot file for the bitmaps. I don't know if we will make it on time with this issue. We are waiting for an answer from anaconda maintainers. My Transifex account is https://www.transifex.com/accounts/profile/ciupicri Me and the Fedora Project: I've been a Fedora user since its beginning and before that a Red Hat Linux user. Now I'd like to give something back. I've already reported quite a few bugs and I even fixed a couple of them. I'm also a packager. I'm joining this group because I wanted to translate into Romanian the phrase "Upcoming Beta Release is planned for" from the prerelease download page [2]. Most of the page is already translated and it's a shame to have that tiny bit in English. That's all I want to do at least for now, but it seems that the process is kind of long and complicated. I would have preferred to just submit a translation suggestion on Transifex (or a similar system) and let the team approve, reject or improve it. Self-Introduction: Johannes Lövhall - Swedish

Greetings. As it says in the title I'm Johannes, though I most often identify myself as "Klap" (which of course is my FAS). From Sweden and therefore fluent in the native language. I don't doubt the team of Swedish translators need some more people joining in, so here I am. I'm currently an Electrical Engineering student. Don't have any real experiences at all from anything, really. Been studying all my life and hasn't got the chance to "do" anything as of yet. Found this translation project and thought it would be a nice thing do besides my studies, so I haven't explored the rest of what Fedora offers (except for the O/S which I've been running for the last couple of years). The script(s) accessible > somewhere? Hi, Sure the PO file are very convenient for translation. And sure, there are a plenty of scripts to extract the text from SVG (as it is pure XML). Examples: 1. po4a can extract the text. 2. Scripts from Inkscape docs can do this: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/inkscape-docs/trunk/files/head:/t… There will be no problems if the banner sizes can be variable (more or less like Fedora countdown pictures). The problem is that the banners are relatively small and of strict sizes so the arbitrary translation can fit them only after some tweaks with text block and font sizes. Just my 2 cents. BTW, what is the appropriate format to submit localized images to Bugzilla report (SVG, PNG, JPEG)? Make-Fedora-Better.svg will likely to be changed, where is our Heisenbug? ;) Thanks in advance for your answers. cvsl10n FAS group

Formerly, the cvsl10n group was used to track people in the translations teams but with the move to transifex I was told this is basically obsolete. However, I realized if we (italian team) stop using it and just add people to the transifex team these new contributors will not have any FAS group attached to them and as a result will not count as contributors. Hence, they will not have a @fedoraproject.org alias, nor be able to vote in elections, and other "benefits" So, what is the correct way to deal with FAS on our l10n teams?
