Proposal: Fedora G11N Steering Committee

Hi All, I am sure, most of the people working with Fedora I18N, L10N from 5-6 year must be aware regarding Fedora L10N Steering Committee. [1] As far as i know this committee was active around 2009 and very effective. During Fedora G11N activity day discussions, we again felt there is need for some kind of official committee to drive Fedora Globalization activities. Fedora is growing faster with number of different domains and G11N also need to adapt those changes quickly to remain on the track. For this purpose and in line with [1], we were thinking of Fedora Globalization steering committee. I have created initial proposal for it. [2] Its open for feedback, please feel free to share other active members, discuss in your respective language groups. This is just initial proposal and i am sure, we can improve and make it more effective with active participation. [transtats.org] f29 is added to transtats.xyz

Hi Everyone, Fedora 28 is released, and this is interesting to learn how was translation completeness for packages and what is required for fedora 29. At this point, Transtats can determine packages which are out of sync[1] (in which languages) and translation volume[2] required for a release. Transtats Jobs[3] sync package with pointing translation platform (DamnedLies and Zanata), Upstream git repository and koji build system. On details page of a package[4] we can see translation statistics from all three places. + At a glance translation report for packages as a group (for a release) or as an individual (detail picture). Tool to inspect translation deficiency and errors in final shipment (srpm). - As transtats job scheduling feature is still under development, sync jobs need manual attention. sync with (1) translation platform (2) upstream (3) build system and then update diff. L10n FAD?

Last year we were talking (offline) about an idea of organizing Fedora Localization FAD. So far nothing more has been decided. There was an idea to organize it during or near another big conference so we could save money on travel & accommodation, especially for the people from outside Europe (Noriko, Pravin, I'm thinking about you). As Flock date and venue has been announced, do you think we can organize L10n FAD together with Flock? My thoughts: - I suggest to organize FAD immediately after or immediately before Flock but not during Flock. If you organize it during Flock then people will be unable to attend both events. - Much depends on how long the event will be. If it is one day or less then it does not make sense to move anywhere from Dresden, due to the travel cost. - Translation sprint has been already scheduled to start on August 15, that is 4 days after Flock. It would be nice to merge it with L10n FAD and make it non-virtual event. However, I think we don't want the FAD to be that long: 4 days as a gap between those events + few more days to include the sprint at least partially. - Poland was mentioned as a suggested location. If this is your preferred destination then I can help organizing. Usually it is possible to find accommodation 3-5 times cheaper than in Dresden. However, if you have another decision it can be any country in a reasonable distance (Czech Republic is worth considering). - Note that August 15 is a public holiday in Poland. - It is likely that I will be unable to attend the FAD (which I regret) but still I can help organizing. fedora.zanata.org is now on version 4.4.5

Hi, After a long process and battling with infrastructure for hosting Zanata, I'm glad to announce that fedora.zanata.org is now running on version 4.4.5. I understand this has been a long delay and would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused as a result it. With this new setup, we are now able to provide the latest fixes and release of Zanata more frequently to Fedora community.
