Hello,
A few months ago the missing translations of system-config-network were
discussed on this mailing list, e.g. in
<https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-trans-list/2007-June/msg00011.html>.
I have submitted a bug report requesting a translation update for
Finnish <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=234705>
before the release of F7, and after the release another one
<https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=246469> about a
wider set of languages.
The situation still remains the same. Over 20 translations are not
up-to-date in the released package, and at least three languages (bs,
ro, te) are completely missing from the package although they have had
100% translations committed to the translation CVS well before the
release of F7.
Nobody seems to care about about the bug reports mentioned above.
Nothing happens. Dozens of translators have spent their free time on
these translations, which are then not used at all. At this pace I
don't really expect to see these getting updated in F8 either. When
Bugzilla is not enough, what to do next?
Since most teams have limited number of people and limited time, it
would be best to focus on those translations which actually do get
packaged for distribution. Maybe such packages could be listed on the
wiki.
Regards,
-LN

I've written some information targeted towards module maintainers wanting to get
their resource translated by us.

Feel free to add any information needed so we can start pointing people to it.
Runa, I'll wait your additions before spreading it out.

Hello! Folks
I've just joined the l10n project and would like to learn
and work here.
I am
Name: Mustafa Qasim
Age: 20
Location: Pakistan
Language: Urdu
Occupation: Student of Bachelors in Software Engineering, Virtual University
of Pakistan.
There is no coordinator of URDU language, so I need help from you folks in
getting familiar with the translation project and actively participate. I
need some guidance for starting the URDU translation group and learn the 3
translation parts Software/Documents/Website. I've a bundle of questions to
get start my work. So, should I post my all getting start question in this
thread or create another single thread or single new thread for every new
question?

Hello all,
I've some ideas how to extend Dimitris' cool tool transfix. The idea is
similar to translation system of jamendo.com which we have actually:
Every user with CLA signed can translate a string, but only "trusted"
people can approve it afterwards which will result in commit to
cvs/git/whatever upstream work flow. Those translation are via web
interface (something like Ubuntu's proprietary roseta), when user begin
to translate the system checkout the PO from the upstream and this local
copy is modify directly via web interface (does someone from the list
know if Python has some extension which can handle work with PO files?)
after the translation/update of the local PO file, user submit the
translation to review to maintainer which if approve will result in
commit to the upstream cvs system.
Thoughts?

RelEng had a meeting today and the String Freeze Policy we prepared is now an
official policy:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/ReleaseEngineering/StringFreezePolicy
I'll send an announcement to -devel-announce to let people know.
The above policy helps us in ensuring that translators can start working from
the freeze date (28 August 2007) without worrying that any strings will be
changed. Any developer wanting to break it should get the approval of our group.
If anyone notices any POT file changing after the date, please send an email to
the list to let everyone know. More info at:

Hello,
apparently and unfortunately, I have misinterpreted the top-posting definition.
I will be careful with this from now on.
Cheers

Hi,
Since quite a few modules are being moved by their maintainers to new
repositories, it is perhaps a good idea for the Translators to be
informed as well. Right now the repository list can be determined from:
http://translate.fedoraproject.org/module/
I would like to propose the following:
@ Request the maintainers to send in a notification mail to the main
devel-announcement list
@ The above mail can be cc-ed or forwarded to the fedora-trans list for
notifying the translators
@ A page linked from the Fedora Translation Project wiki page, listing
all the available repositories and their respective account information.
Please add on your thoughts.
Thanks a lot
regards
Runa
