Hi, we now have some website test instances setup at http://publictest1.fedoraproject.org/. Hopefully, this is helpful for proofreading translations, testing out website changes, etc.
Right now, these instances only have some languages enabled - I'm working on making sure that all languages are enabled for the test instance.
Thanks, Ricky

The test sites are now using all languages that have a po file. To get it to build properly, I changed/removed some Plural-Forms lines in the sv, es, and tg translations. I hope I didn't break anything with these, translators of those languages might want to double check this :-)
Again, the test sites are at http://publictest1.fedoraproject.org/ and they are rebuilt every hour.
Thanks a lot, Ricky

The Spanish (es) version looks nice. Thanks for the preview, Ricky.

Ricky, Except for the fedorahosted page, the others still remain in English when I select bn_IN from the drop-down. Am I missing something?
Thanks a lot for setting up the test instance :)
cheers Runa

Oops, I missed a bit of config for a few languages - that should be fixed now.
Thanks, Ricky

Ricky, its still not working. Looks like there is a problem with the languages with country code. pt_BR, zh_CN, zh_TW all return the en page just like bn_IN.
And unfortunately, the fedorahosted page is now dysfunctional too. It was working earlier but now returns the en pages when any of the above languages are selected. :-(
Can someone else confirm this please, just in case it is a problem at my end?
Thanks Runa

Oops, I regenerated the apache configurations today and I had a bug in the script that mixed up the order for those country codes. It should be fixed now.
Thanks a lot for the report, Ricky

the following string is not translated in Catalan in http://publictest1.fedoraproject.org/fedoraproject.org/ca/index:
Fedora 11 Leonidas is here!
it doesn't seems to be in
https://translate.fedoraproject.org/tx/projects/fedora-web/master-fedoraproj...
Thanks in advance!

That string comes from a javascript file, which we don't support translations for yet. When the website goes live, a small release banner with no text will be shown there instead, and the string will just be the alt text.
I'll try to look at javascript translation for future releases.
Thanks, Ricky

What I said before applies to all languages - it's because the string comes from a javascript file, which we don't have a way to localize yet. It's something to look at for future releases.
Note that when the site is actually released, there will be a Fedora banner with no text on it there instead - the string is just the alt text for the banner.
Thanks, Ricky

That's very helpful, thanks! Unfortunately Polish (pl) does not work at these test instances. When choosing it, browser tries to download some mysterious PL file.

Hi, this should be fixed now. Apparently, /etc/mime.types grew a lot in rawhide, and is assigning mime types to a lot of file language code file extensions now. For now, I have to add an override for each one that has issues, but I'll look into a better solution later. Please let me know if any language is returning a page in the wrong type.
Thanks, Ricky

Thanks a lot for the testing server. However, it seems it is not being rebuilt every hour as I upload a new PO about 5 hours ago :) (fr.po)
Thanks

Hey, the cron job wasn't running because apparently, scripts in /etc/cron.hourly get run by anacron now, which wasn't installed on publictest1. This should be fixed now, so the updates should show up within the hour.
Thanks, Ricky

Thanks, but it seems I am working on the wrong file... what is the difference between the two following files :
fedora-web.master-fedoraproject.XX.po fedora-web.f10-fedoraproject.XX.po
It seems they are both the same... why two files then ?

Sorry for the confusion. The f10 branch is the branch that the current live f10 site is built off of. The master branch is the branch that will become live once f11 is released.
Thanks, Ricky

OK then it seems there are problems in the f10 branch as we can find Fedora 11 related strings, like :
"Fedora 11: Reign." instead of the disappeared "Fedora 10: Fire it up."
Moreover it has been 2 or 3 hours since the cron should have worked but it seems the fr.po is not being actualized. Thanks :)

I just checked, and the Fedora 10 string is still present in fr.po, line 802. The F11 slogan was added earl on the f10 branch before we branched off on purpose so that translators would get an longer chance to find an appropriate translation for it.

My apologies, I was doing some other testing on that machine that affected the network. I'm just did a manual run of the sync script now, let me know if the updates are still missing.
Thanks, Ricky
