I used to live in Berlin for a few months. It's a lovely city and I miss it dearly.
I don't know the status of the German team, but I'm assuming that someone on the German team will sponsor you soon. You can also send an application to the "de" team on https://fedora.zanata.org/;, and that will probably be accepted simultaneously.
